When Black Friday Comes
I do not own Duke, Big Bertha, or Sonny- Ralph Bakshi does. I have several OC's, though. Don't take.
"Hey, you guys!!" Pink announced Millie-the-Helper style as she walked into Sonny and Big Bertha's kitchen. "Guess what day it is today!!!" She looked from one crow to the other, relishing the looks of perplexity on their faces.
"Uhhhh... Friday?" Duke said finally, lifting his hat to scratch his head.
"Not just any Friday..." Pink replied with her brown eyes sparkling with mischief. "It's BLACK Friday!!!"
"What's Black Friday?" Francis asked, coming into the kitchen sleepily. He'd packed away a lot of Thanksgiving turkey yesterday and was still sleeping off the tryptophan. Francis was 20 and his mother, Mildred, owned the house that some of Pink's crow friends lived in.
"Oh, Black Friday's when all the stores have their Christmas sales, and stuff is really cheap!" Pink explained to the sweet, almost childlike Crow who had just entered. "I've never been, but one my Chinese friends went last year! She managed to get some pretty good deals on Ralph Lauren perfume!"
Francis smiled slightly. "Cooool. Ralph Lauren perfume. Uh, who's Ralph?"
Big Bertha leaned back in her chair and assumed a bored expression. "Well, what if you're allergic to scents?"
"Like you?" Pink asked with a smile.
"Yeah."
"Oh, there's all kinds of stuff for sale on Black Friday, Big B!" Pink replied. She then looked down at the floor shyly. "And...I asked my mom if she wanted to go....and she said she didn't....so...."
Sonny looked at his wife and shot her an irritated "Oh-nice-job-you-made-her-all-shy" look. The somewhat self-absorbed female Crow pretended not to notice.
Pink glanced up at her feathered friends again. "So since my mom didn't wanna go," she continued, gaining more confidence and momentum, "I thought it'd be cool if I could take you guys! I can drive now, y'know, and I promise not to kill anyone!" she added jokingly. "But, y'know, only if you guys want -"
"Why, sure, Pink! Of course we wanna go!" Duke replied. "We don't have any other plans for today, and as far as I can tell, everyone's slept off their tryptophan, more or less!"
Big Bertha, Sonny, and Francis agreed. They'd never been shopping on Black Friday before, but Pink made it sound like such fun!
"Perfect!" Pink exclaimed. "As soon as everyone gets bundled up- and as soon as I call Maryanna to invite her along- we'll head out!"
