Kairi waits.

She waits in line with twenty-one other students, today they were finally graduating, becoming adults – they could see the worlds. But quite frankly, Kairi had enough of other worlds and Heartless and nobodies, people that didn't exist and boys who never were. She was tired of it all, Naminé clicks her tongue impatiently – she wants to hurry up and get this over with. It was stupid really, she seen the world, and she knows here on this island – there's nothing there.

Naminé sighs.

They were so late.

Riku runs, he throws his Keyblade down, changing into a gradation robe, and then takes off. Because it wasn't everyday that you got permission to go be somebody, in a world that you already were. So he runs, because he late – and if he's late, then he won't get his diploma and that'd be no good. And he hears them call his name, and he strolls up there real cool like, winking at the principle and shaking the secretary's hand. He grins at Kairi waving his diploma, and she laughs giving him a thumbs up sign. And Riku searches for his best friend – and he finds nobody.

Roxas groans.

He kicks up, slashes through two heartless and then one more, heartless don't give a shit if you're suppose to cross the stage today. They just want to rip you to shreds. Sora jumps, and throws his ripped up robe, thinking how he suppose to explain this to his teachers and the principal – he grins. My heartless ate it. And they thought that he couldn't come up with anymore excuses.

Sora laughs.

Someone takes a picture.

There they all were, Riku being forced to grin by Sora and Kairi who were pinching at his cheeks, both grinning. Sora with his ripped up robe, and Kairi with all her doubts. They were all going in different directions, Riku far – far away, Kairi staying on her island and Sora being the hero, nobody knew where he was going. Not even himself. And in the background, if nobodies could be seen there would be Naminé and Roxas, she was her arms crossed rolling her eyes and he giving Sora bunny ears laughing as he did so.

It was a perfect ending – to e v e r ything.

To Kairi chasing Riku and Sora around, and waiting for them – to her sketching out Namine's dreams, and pretending that there wasn't a voice inside her head. To Riku's protecting his two best friends, and always being there – he could finally leave on a journey with no heartless and no princesses to save. But there'd be some anyway. To Sora listening to Roxas, who feels bad for leaving Kairi (Naminé) all alone on that big bad island by herself. To listening to his heart, because all that did was get him in trouble in the first place. To everything that used to mean something – that was in the past, when their paths were entwined and they were attached at the hip.

"So this is it, huh," Sora clasped his hands behind his head. "This is goodbye."

"Yeah." Riku agreed.

"Have fun, and stay safe." Kairi smiled.

And she hugs both of them, and watches them shake hands then hug – she couldn't help but wonder when did the forks set in and separate them. Kairi closes her eyes, and she remembers – whilst everyone else moves on and forgets.

Kairi cries, because she remembers.

Sora wipes his eyes, because this was it.

Riku runs, because he can't turn back.

& this time there was no promise to comeback.
