Pairing: Kames with an inevitable side of Cargan
Notes: Had this idea in my head, started it on a whim and I don't know if I'll continue it and if I do it won't be too long. The plot will be further explained/developed in the second chapter. This is not my best writing but I really wanted to get this muse written. Let me know what you guys think.

The first day at a new school was always a terrifying experience, more so than the first day of a new school year. No, this was much worse. Starting at a new school, in the middle of the year was pure torture. All the staring eyes, thinking that the longer they stared the more they'd know about him.

That was one thing Kendall Knight couldn't stand. Attention. He hated it. He wanted so little of it that he was practically invisible. That's the way he preferred it, completely out of the spotlight. He just wanted to blend into the background but being a new kid in the middle of January didn't really leave him much choice but to stand out.

Moorhead high school seemed absolutely fascinated by his presence, like he was some odd new creature yet discovered by man. He didn't appreciate this. He was just Kendall Knight, born in LA, raised in a myriad of different cities and he was simply adding a new one to his list. That's all he saw this to be. A new town to add to his list of hometowns. This was a fairly extensive list considering his mom didn't like to stay in one place to long.

Kendall probably should've been more dysfunctional because of this frequent moving and his mom's inability to commit to a life in one place but he'd just grown accustom to it by now. It wasn't weird or irritating like it had been in the beginning; it was just his way of life now. He'd actually grown quite fond of their lifestyle. The frequent change of pace was kind of nice and it was refreshing getting a completely new start. It made relationships easy too; he never had to worry about establishing them in the first place, they'd be gone the next day so what was the point?

As he walked down the hallway of his third high school in the past five months, earbuds shoved in his ears, blasting a playlist of Incubus, Slightly Stoopid and Radiohead, he kept his eyes focused on the ground and his hands shoved in his pockets. He didn't care to note all the students around him; he wouldn't get a chance to get to know them anyways. Not that he really had a desire to do so.

He glanced up briefly to gauge his location, his next class was the second floor and he was on the first floor by the gym. The bell was about to ring in a few minutes but even that didn't instill a sense of urgency in the blond. Much like the rest of his life, it didn't matter. His attendance was quite poor as he frequently exhibited this frame of mind. If he was going to move in a month, why would it matter if he actually went to class and kept up his grades?

And in this second that he looked up, his eyes fell upon something that almost literally took his breath away. A tall brunette was walking towards him, along the opposite side of the hall, messenger bag thrown over his shoulder, headphones in his ears, much like himself. His hair was a soft brown, swept to the side across his forehead. Kendall couldn't help but notice just how soft it looked.

His eyes were locked dead ahead, not once straying from his unknown destination. Kendall's own emerald eyes fixed on this stranger's gentle, chocolate brown eyes and deep within them, he could tell there was a story. One he'd never get to read but it was nice to just skim over it, appreciate its beauty for what it was. Maybe this time they would stay long enough for him to just read the first chapter.
