you know standard-disclaimer and so on... This is my first fanfiction and its set somewhere in the earlier episodes, that I unluckyly missed to watch. Gonna fix that soon though, I hope. Its about the two of them, meaning our heroes, coming closer. There is no real violence so I would rate for every age.
Thanx to my daughter who watched Xena before me and opened to me the wonderful world of fanfiction. And thanx for beta-reading!
Feedback is always welcome, so just write what you think of it, but if ya just wanna hurt my feelings...

Gabrielle opened her eyes slowly. She met Xenas steady gaze. It took her some time to remember that she had been hurt. However Xena was there to make sure, that she was ok. Xena did not smile and she did not say a word, while Gabrielle concentrated on waking up. The warrior princess just had her eyes on Gabrielle, with this steady serious glare, which she sometimes fixed upon a particularly stubborn enemy to – Gabrielle was quite sure of it – kill him without a weapon, simply by freezing his insides.
Gabrielle feeling suddenly very uncomfortable, shifted and felt the pain from the stabbing wound searing through her entire body. She did not dare groaning under Xenas cold stare, so she heaved a single heavy sigh. With amazement she saw something like relief ripple over Xenas face. But of course it was gone as soon as Gabrielle thought she had seen it. Then even less seldom than a smile an emotion showed on Xenas dark features.
„You ´ll be fine tomorrow," Xena said curtly and her head moved out of Gabrielles view. The bard was able to look around the campsite. A cover was thrown quite carelessly over Gabrielles aching body, but her wounds had been tended to and Xena must have moved her from the place where the fight had taken place. Xena sat now at the fire and did not throw another glance at Gabrielle.
What had she seen in my face, that made her go away, Gabrielle mused, watching her companion with wide open eyes. „Dont do this!" Xena said without looking at the bard. Gabrielle tried to sit up to see to whom Xena had spoken. Since there was nobody else around she realized with some awkwardness that it was herself.
„What...what did I do?" Gabrielle asked with some effort. She succumbed to the pain now with a heavy groan, but still kept her body in an somewhat erect posture to look at Xena questioningly.
Xena reached for her flask, opened it and held it to Gabrielle, then changed her mind and put the neck of the bottle to Gabrielles lips. Gabrielle drank with pleasure before her eyes wandered back to Xena.
„I don´t like the way your eyes control me," Xena said, taking the flask back and drinking herself, „you should get rested."
A couple of month ago Gabrielle would have been at a loss, but now she knew what Xena had meant and a grin spread over her face. She had caught Xena with her guards down and got one of those rare glimpses into the warriors heart, without all masquerade or pretence.
„I won´t do it again," she promised as she sank back on the cushion, that had been carefully placed under her head.
Xena knew for sure that Gabrielle did not mean it. But of course it was allright.
