Naruto really doesn't like cinnamon.
("Why did you leave?")
There is just something about the smell of cinnamon. It is far too strong. His nose is sensitive.
("It doesn't matter anymore.")
They say that cinnamon is supposed to be somewhat refreshing, is supposed to be fragrant. He doesn't find it fragrant in the least.
("It matters a lot!")
Why is it that he was always different?
("... It's been years. Of course it doesn't matter anymore.")
He puts a lot of cinnamon in his coffee today. He has seen people put cinnamon in their coffee. When he asks them why they do it, they say something along the lines of just to smell cinnamon.
("You've got someone else now, haven't you?")
He drinks his coffee with the cinnamon on top. It tastes bitter. And cinnamon is supposed to be a bit sweet, isn't it?
("We're going to get married next month.")
He hates cinnamon, but he takes it in his system anyway. He's trying something new.
("It's only been five years. We've been together for more than that!")
The aftertaste isn't at all that nice either. He still loathes cinnamon.
("Just leave it.")
But he takes another gulp.
("I was good to you!")
The hot water is scalding. He doesn't care though. He's already drinking in cinnamon anyway.
("He is good for me.")
He takes a lungful of cinnamon. He still tries to make himself like it. He doesn't know why. Perhaps it is because...
("Do you love him?")
He doesn't want to fill in the blank that was left by his mind.
("... I... no.")
He drinks his coffee again. His tongue tingles as the coffee left it for his throat. There is a bitter taste in his mouth. He is starting to take in more of the cinnamon and the coffee.
("You still love me, don't you, Sasuke?")
He pauses for a while in drinking his coffee, trying to see if he could get more of that aftertaste, thinking that perhaps something good will come out.
("Love isn't the only factor.")
His efforts, he finds out a few minutes later, are in vain.
("Love should be the only factor, you bastard!")
He drinks his coffee again. It isn't as if he has anything else to drink. The other drinks in the restaurant are awful.
("We need to be practical. It isn't working. It isn't at all.")
He decides to order another cup of coffee.
("Then we'll make it work. Give me another chance.")
He calls the waitress who scurries to him. He knows that she is going to get fired soon.
("No. It'll never work. The two of us... we... we're far too different.")
She nervously asks for what he wants. He tells her that he wants a cup of coffee with cream with a smile on his face. He needn't frighten more than she already is. She is, after all, going to get unemployed by the establishment soon. Girls like her don't stay employed long.
("If we wanted to, we could make it work. Please.")
She leaves him after she takes his order.
("Good bye, Naruto.")
("I love you...")
("...")
Naruto really doesn't like blood.
("Don't leave me!")
But today, he bathes in it.
("... And I... I... love you, too...")
Thank you to all who have read through the whole fic. I appreciate it a lot.
Comments will also be appreciated. If you've spotted any mistakes, please do tell me so that I'll be able to do something about it. I assume that there might be a handful of mistakes since... I have tried the whole present tense thing again.
