"Dammit, Sherlock, do you always have to be so pushy?"
"Well, you weren't going to get into her bedroom without a little help."
"You didn't have to literally push me onto her!"
Sherlock rumbled something unintelligible. He could be truly impossible at times. But that was just the way John liked it. All the arguments, the snarky comments, the exasperated faces pulled when John was being the tiniest bit too slow, where just what made this wonderful, beautiful man so attractive to this strong, military, 'not gay' man.
"John? John, where you daydreaming again?"
"What? No! No, of course I wasn't. I, erm, was just admiring the trees."
"It's December, John. The trees are bare and ugly."
"Well… Maybe I was admiring the way the snow sat on the branches."
"It's melting."
"The dark color?"
"They're grey-brown."
"Oh, for God's sake, Sherlock, leave off! I can daydream if I damn well want to!" Why did that man have to be so impossible? Why could he not stay out of John's head? And why did John have no difficulty seeing Sherlock Holmes, the world's greatest consulting detective, tied to his bedpost?
"John, if you really want me not to notice ALL of your feelings, you could try wearing baggier pants and not staring at me with dilated pupils and a flushed face."
John really couldn't help himself anymore. After seeing that beautiful mind working nonstop on cases for the past few weeks (except for that one day when he was so bored, he shot holes in the wall), John realized that he felt something other than awe for his flat mate. The words came out before he could even stop them.
"Sherlock, would you like to come on a date with me? As my date?"
"Of course. But I thought that we 'dated' every day."
"We do?" This was a surprise.
"Yes! Why else do you think I drag you all over the country with me? I thoroughly enjoy your company and relish the time we have together. Now would you please just shut up and walk faster; I would like to go home now. There is something I would like to do with you."
And, for once, John had no problem keeping up.
