If it bends, I don't own it. Moving on now.
All was well in the Fire Nation. The general population was pleased with the end of the war. Many families were reunited after the disbandment of the army. Fathers and sons returned home. And then of course there was the Royal Wedding to look forward to. Yes, everything was good. Everyone was happy. Well, almost everyone.
Zuko was hunched over his massive desk that was perpetually covered in papers. It had gotten late - closer to morning than evening. Still his lamps burned and his pens scratched.
Katara cracked open the door. She was dressed in her nightclothes. She was asleep until she woke up and saw that Zuko was still gone. She walked in.
"Come to bed." She mumbled. Zuko barely looked up.
"Can't," he said. Katara walked across the room to his desk. She went to his side and wedged herself between his chair and his desk and pushed. He let out an aggravated sigh.
"Why?" He asked simply.
"You need to come to bed." She said. She sat down on his lap. He sighed and leaned into her.
"How does one person do all of this?" Katara laughed gently.
"One person doesn't. They have help." She leaned in until their foreheads touched.
"Let me help you." She whispered. He sighed again.
"You can't help me. This is my nation, my people. They are my responsibility." Katara drew in a deep breath. She wrapped her arms around him and rubbed circles on his back.
"In three days, your nation and your people will be my nation and my people. The same goes for you. My home will be your home." Zuko shook his head.
"Crazy waterbender," he muttered and then added,
"I love you." Katara smiled gently.
"I know."
Author's Note:
Can anyone find the Star Wars reference? Yeah, it's not hard.
Love to hear your thoughts!
P.S. – I'm not the greatest at writing romance/fluff so this was my practice. :-)
