This is a short story about Christine Brennan finally able to rest…
The song is the refrain from the Carrie Underwood song "Mama's Song" Don't they describe Booth to a tee?
And he is good so good
He treats your little girl like a real man should
He is good so good
He makes promises he keeps
No hes never gonna leave
So dont you worry about me
Dont you worry about me
A Mother finally Finds Peace
By Puckish Prosecutor
Dr. Temperance Brennan was happier than she had ever been in her life. Happier than she had ever thought it was possible to be and the kind of happiness she had never thought she would have.
She was in love. And the man loved her back. It had taken them 5 years to get to that point and some missteps and misunderstandings but they were finally together.
She hadn't believed in love until he had made her believe in love.
She hadn't believed in marriage but she looked down at the sparkling diamond ring on her hand that was about to be joined by a simple gold wedding band.
But she wanted the future that she was about to start with Seeley Booth. She wanted it all. Marriage, kids, a house with a white picket fence and a big fluffy dog.
On the day before her wedding she was busy but she knew she had one stop she had to make.
She went to her mother's gravesite to pay her a visit.
She brought flowers and laid them at the tombstone.
Booth had taught her a lot about spirituality and religion in their time together. She called herself more of an agnostic than an atheist as she was beginning to believe there might be a God after all but wasn't sure.
She had even agreed to a religious wedding. It would be in the Jeffersonian gardens but a priest was going to perform the ceremony.
She had also agreed to baptize their children and they were going to raise them to make their own choices as far as religion went.
As she stood in front of the grave she said, "Mom I wanted to talk to you and tell you I'm okay. I'm getting married tomorrow. He's so wonderful. I've been in love with him for a long time but it took me a long time to realize it and be with him. We're going to be together for the rest of our lives. I wanted to let you know I'm okay and I'm going to be okay. You'd love him. He is good and kind an loves me more than I ever thought possible and will always be there for me. And I love you. I just wish you were here and would be here tomorrow. I miss you every day but at least Dad is in my life again."
She kissed her fingers and then put them on headstone and walked away.
Watching from heaven Christine Brennan had tears in her eyes. She was finally at peace. Her children were going to be okay. Russ was married to Amy and raising her girls as his own.
And Temperance was wrong in one way. She would not physically be there tomorrow but she was going to be there in spirit and would be there every step of the way. She couldn't wait to see her daughter have children and raise them with this wonderful man.
She knew that her little girl had found her happily ever after.
Everything was not only all right but wonderful.
And her little girl who she had worried about so much.
