Not really sure where this idea is going…
The woman flitted through the forest seen only by the unseeing. Not even the thick blanket of darkness caused her to stumble into the brambles, or even step on a mere twig. No, this woman was not guided by her own senses, but by some more mystical, mysterious force. Some would call it luck. Those older and more wizened in the ways of the world have the presence of mind to call it destiny.
But though destiny was not unknown by the people, neither was it known. For, in fact, very few in history have even brushed the strands of destiny's guiding tendrils. Some have come to know destiny as a shadow, only ever seen in the corner of the eye. But some, a very selective few, have come to know destiny as a great friend and a great enemy. For it was possible to be both at once. Indeed, it would be quite impossible for destiny to be embraced with no resistance. In this effect, destiny has led a very lonely existence since the beginning of time. Some would say that destiny makes them part of some bigger, greater plan. Others would say that destiny is but a lonely child, wishing only for some entertainment.
The truth? Well… the truth is up to each man unto himself. Because for one man, it may be true that he is but a plaything. But the other man, the man who believes, he may find himself with an incredible path to follow. One that is almost certainly fraught with hardship and suffering. But has a man truly lived until he has suffered? How can one man know the light, if he has never seen the darkness?
More soundless, even, than the breeze on a windless day, like a cool mist floating through the forest, gliding, never touching the ground. Such was the nature of this midnight woman. Had any human seen her, he would suspect nothing less than the goddess of the woods herself. But alas it was not so. This woman was nothing but mortal. For mortals were the favored pawns of destiny, with so much to be accomplished, in such a short time…
It should hopefully turn into a multichapter fic… I kind of have a plan for the next chapter so that should be up soon.
Reviews would be totally awesome, since I'm not sure exactly where I will be taking this story.
Ideas and suggestions are always welcome, as are questions.
Please let me know if anything is unclear so I can make any necessary revisions.
Also, please keep in mind that this is only the prologue, so the plot will be introduced hopefully in the next chapter.
Thanks for reading!
