It was storming that day. I recall that much quite vividly.
I was feeling ill that day, as in recent time I had been more and more frequently, and I had retired to my Captain's quarters earlier that morning; it had gotten me out of something. It was tedious really at this point, but in quiet dignity I accepted it.
"Oi~! Ukitake-taichou?" There was a rough knock at my bedroom door. I had finally just gotten comfortable.
"What?" I responded half-heartedly, trying my best not to move. I can't specifically remember the face that peeked into my room as they opened the door halfway before being invited inside.
"A new recuit..." He said. "...shall I have the Lieutenant...or, should I let..."
"I'll take care of it..." I said, or something to that effect. I really just wanted him out of my hair.
I didn't want to do it. No part of me wanted to move. ...but I owe all the happiness in my life to the fact that I did.
The first time I saw her I could never forget.
I could tell she was nervous, I tried to put her at ease; and in that I remember most vividly looking into her eyes. Soft, deep green eyes. Beautiful.
You always did know how to make a lasting impression.
