The blazing sun that lit up the old and forgotten sand sea showed no mercy upon Link as he and Fi, who was resting within the Master Sword, climbed up to the top of Skippers hideout. Grueling hours of the heat began to get to Link's head as he opened the door to the dusty old room. Coughing, he waved away the dust that managed to tickle his throat.
A few minutes later, after having blown the sand off of the broken shelves and cupboards with the Gust Bellows, he heard a faint "clack." Looking back into one of the larger chests he'd cleaned off, he opened with curiosity. Peering in, rolled up maps and the smell of aged paper is what greeted him. There it was, a map that Skipper had asked for.
Smiling in relief, Link crouched down to retrieve said requested map, only for a small box to fall from within the roll. Link raised an eyebrow in curiosity as he picked up the small block. Opening the old thing, was a tiny metal music box. He took a moment to search for the winding handle, and once done, he heard the turning of once neglected cogs squeak to life again.
The tune was melancholy, to say the least. Link stood there, a rush of different emotions washing over his heart as he looked up at the old paintings of Skippers lost crew. How lively it had been back before all was taken. Before the sea had dried up into nothing but itchy sand, leaving nothing but remnants of the past.
The gentle sound of his Master Sword coming to life alerted him. He turned to see Fi staring at him with what was almost considered confusion of her standards. She had no emotion what so ever, and was unable to process the feelings that Link was going through.
"They were all alive, you know..." Link sighed as he let the tune carry on it's sweet melody. "These new creatures... New, in my respects. I never had thought life had existed under Skyloft. When one tells that nothing or no one ever returned for so long, it's almost believable."
"Master, I am enquired to inform you that life did indeed exist in the Lanayru province. Only so much time had passed, as well as the evils that grew. It is not the people of Skyloft at fault. Her Highness had chosen to save what was left of your kind. As to keep what innocence was left at peace." Fi's monotone voice had provided some assurance to the boys heart as the tune faded out, a small click echoed through the room.
"Thank you, Fi." He smiled a little as he looked into her gaze.
"Of course, Master. Is there anything else you would like to know?" Fi asked.
"No thanks. We should get this map to Skipper. Time is running out as we speak. C'mon." Link stated.
"Indeed, Master Link." With that, Link's blue companion leapt back into the sword.
Link carefully cranked up the music box again, and set it down in front of the painting. The one that showed the joyous past of Captain Skipper's family.
Looking back, Link huffed a small chuckle through his nose as he close the door, the beautiful tune soon faded. It was one that he would always remember.
