This is just a little something I wrote because I was bored. Enjoy!

"Are you sure there's nothing there?"

"For the last time YES!"

"Are you surely sure?"

"…"

"Can you check?"

Sighing, Bakura got up for the fifth time that night to check the closet. His eight-year

old hikari was convinced there was a monster in there. This, Bakura knew, was

absurd. He had told the chibi that if there was a monster in the closet he would have

felt the shadows coming from it. But Ryou wouldn't have it. So every hour he would

get Bakura to check.

"There, see? Nothing." Bakura said, pointing to the empty closet. "Can I go to sleep

now?"

"But what if it comes while you're sleeping?"

"I've told you before, I'll feel the shadows!" he was getting annoyed.

"Butwhatifyoudon'tanditcomesintheroomwhilewe'resleepingandgetsus? What then?"

"Then I'll get ride of it!"

"How?"

"I'll send it to the shadow realm."

"You'd do that for me?"

"Um…uh…s-sure." Bakura started to sweat. How was he going to get out of this one?

without going soft?

"So you'll protect me?" Ryou asked, eyes full of question and hope.

"Y-yes. I guess so."

Ryou smiled at this then drifted off to sleep and, much to the relief of Bakura, didn't

wake up again.

The next morning Bakura was woken up by someone shaking him. He growled in

annoyance but his face softened when he saw it was Ryou.

"Bakura can you help me?"

"What is it hikari?"

"I think there's a monster in the kitchen cupboard. Can you check?"
