Good Intentions.
Some people call him evil. Others call him wicked and cruel and this may be true to some extent. But just how humans have many layers of motivations that dictate our actions. So do demons even if they never express emotion. Alaistar Cain is no exception, to this at all. He isn't like most demons even if he denies it completely. Yes, he more powerful than most of his kind and most witches. He thirsts for blood rivals that of the world but that isn't what makes up all of him.
Alastair is often in his office planning and scheming to gain ultimate power to shape his world in his own image. And to do so he knows he must sacrifice his second child well almost third child if the death of his newborn daughter never happened. This daughter he shared with Parker's mother. He would never admit that Julia Wagner, his ex-wife has an influence over him no one ever had. She has presence self-worth that almost matches his. From the moment they met, she was never intimidated by him or his power, in fact, she found it attractive at first.
But the killing his determination for ultimate power frightened her despite his best efforts to prove to her, he meant her no harm what so ever. That she was important to him more than anyone else who came before her. However, that proved not to be enough he brought her too much pain intentionally or not. His enemies sought to use her to bring him pain and she almost died multiple times because of it. Eventually, one more near-death experience was too much for Julia although, she loved Alaistar and always would her want to live a life free from supernatural danger was greater. He tried one last effort to get her to stay with him. He acquired an ancient potion one that could turn Julia into a demon and a powerful one not as strong as him though. Now much to his dismay, Julia valued her humanity more the thought of living an eternity was pure horror to her.
Julia leaving him only made him more convinced desire ultimate power more to create a world where he could have it all his ex-wife and his children as well as no one standing in his way. A family that would last forever. However, achieving this is a lot harder than saying it. Julia will never see that his love for her still remains and it is a pure one no matter how hard he tries no matter how good his intentions are they will never be good enough in her eyes!
