The first thing she noticed was the chirping of birds. It was a vague thought, almost like waking up from a dream. Slowly coming to, Emma languidly arched her back, only half aware of the body pressed up against her.

Regina was not quite awake, suspended between soft bedsheets and passionate touches across her body. A content sigh left her mouth before she fully woke up, her eyes immediately widening in shock.

As Regina's body stiffened, Emma came to her senses, suddenly aware that her arms were wrapped around the other woman's body; and nothing felt out of place.

"Emma, I-"

"I shouldn't have-"

"Wanted you to-"

"Stayed."

"Stay."

Both women were still in the same positions they woke up in, both too scared to move. A couple of moments passed and then Regina relaxed.

"Stay?" she almost whispered.

Emma tightened her hold around Regina's shoulders and pressed a kiss to the side of her head. "I'm not going anywhere."
