Daring is the son of King and Queen Charming, but he hates being the future King Charming, dealing with royal duties and being told what to do. Daring is the opposite of what the legacy book says: he causes trouble, skips class, never maintains his appearance in the proper princely way, and has no apparent charm. As a young child, Daring had no problem following the rules, having manners, and doing his princely duties until he got older. Daring grew sick and tired of being told what to do and wanted to cease the nagging from several Kings and Queens telling him that he will be something he did not choose to be. He despises being, through his eyes, someone's "arm candy". He doesn't accept his legacy book destiny as Apple White's prince.

Rosabella is the Daughter of Beauty and the Beast. She has accepted her destiny to become the next Beauty without a second thought. Her father, the (ex)Beast both sheltered Rosabella and gave her all she asked for because he does not want to treat his daughter the same way he had treated his wife the first time they met. Rosabella always goes by the rules, never raising her voice, always has manners; however since she's been sheltered so much and the fact that she has three older brothers, she is quite codependent, shy, timid, and barely voices her opinions. Despite this, she still tries to help everyone anyway she can.

Rosabella was walking through the halls of Ever After High. Her head down as she watched her feet take each step when all of a sudden; her books fell to the ground. She bent down to pick them up. Looking down at her books, she felt her lips tremble. Her books had once again been spilled on the floor after a so-called prince. For many weeks, Rosabella has always tried to avoid Daring as much as she could. His endless teasing towards her always kept her on her guard. Darling had always told her to not let Daring's words or actions bother her, he never means anything he says but that didn't make them hurt any less. She wish she could stand up for herself but she, like everyone else, was scared of what he would do if she did. She felt so weak and helpless, she couldn't believe that she was about cry yet again.

Suddenly, she felt some sort of fire build up inside her. It was almost as if her feeling were about to burst out in her chest. She considered not doing anything but her heart just couldn't take it anymore, tears were streaming down her cheeks. Just as Daring was reaching the exit of the school, a powerful voice boomed through the halls, "Why do you have to be such a beast?!" The hallway went silent. Daring stopped in his tracks and smirked to himself. He turned around and sauntered towards the crying beauty. As he closed in on her, Rosabella felt that fire diminish as he kept getting closer until her back hit the lockers. Daring leaned in, their noses barely touching. He could feel her hitched breath as he examined her tear filled eyes. Her beautiful brown eyes. He had always admired her from afar, wondering what she looked like up close. So much better than he thought.

Rosabella felt like she couldn't breathe. She was trembling more than ever, she began contemplating changing schools but what other schools were for fairytales? With Daring's face so close to hers, she couldn't help but stare into his eyes, they seemed to be host to a storm. A slam knocked her back into reality. Daring had slammed his hand onto the locker beside her and made her jump. Despite his rough and tough exterior, he saw Rosabella as a delectate flower that could fall apart if you were too rough. He noticed Rosabella's eyes darting away so he softly grasped her chin so she would look at him and whispered, "My, my... so the cute little rose has a voice" His voice was so low that only she could hear him, "I always thought a witch it" Rosabella looked down. He chuckled, "What happened? Lost your voice?"

"No." Her soft voice whispered. She was in shock. Not only was Daring not losing his temper on her but he was treating her... not terribly. She couldn't get her mind off how his hand wasn't as rough she thought as his thumb traced the bottom line of her lip.

"Daring!" A feminine voice shouted. He quickly let go of Rosabella's chin and placed his hands in his jacket pockets. It was Darling, and with a very unladylike frown on her face. She picked up Rosabella's books and took her friend by the arm, "I thought I told you to leave her alone"

Daring rolled his eyes, "I don't she minded all that much, did you Beauty?" He said winking.

Rosabella's face turned a deep red. Darling scoffed, "Come on Rose, we're going to be late for class" They began to walk away but Rosabella couldn't help but look back at Daring. He noticed her looking back so he gave her one last smirk and wink. Rosabella quickly looked ahead with her face heating up. "I am so sorry about that Rose, he never learns"

Darling didn't notice Rosabella's reddening face as she replied with a quick, "It's alright..." She couldn't help but wonder why Daring got so close to her.

Daring just stood there for a moment as he watched Rosabella and his sister walk away. What was this feeling building in his chest? All he knew is that he had to see her close up again. For the first time in a long time, Daring gave a genuine smile, "Mark my words Beauty, this isn't the end, it just the beginning..." And again, for the first time, he made his way to class.

To be continued...
