Prologue
The vague scent of sweet Poffins filled the air. An intense match was happening against challenger Mitsumi of Snowpoint City versus Champion Cynthia of Sinnoh. This was known as the final battle. Mitsumi stormed through the elite four with no trouble. She was now at the finish line and the only thing standing in her way was Cynthia.
Each of them were down to their last Pokemon. Mitsumi was relying on her golden song bird of a pokemon who is classified by the name Altaria, however she calls her Melody. Cynthia was down to her handy sidekick pokemon Garchomp.
01 Minute was left on the clock.
"Garchomp use Giga Impact!" Cynthia said pointing to Garchomp.
Garchomp immediately flew into the air and it's body became surrounded by spiraling orange streaks. A purple energy sphere began to form around Garchomp's body and it flew towards Altaria.
Mitsumi giggled, Mitsumi and Melody were totally in sync. They gave each other a sharp and direct look. Garchomp was coming in close on Altaria until…
"Melody! Dodge it!" Mitsumi commanded. Melody the Altaria leaped into the air.
Garchomp's attacked missed and it's energy sphere wore off.
"Dazzling Gleam quick!" Mitsumi said.
Melody created a rainbow colored sphere around its body and slammed directly onto Garchomp.
Garchomp let out a roar being that the fairy type move was indeed it's weakness.
Cynthia bit her lip and glanced at the clock. There was 15 seconds left. She knew she had to end this one right now, if it meant she could defend her title.
"Iron head Garchomp!" Cynthia spoke. Garchomp slowly regained composure and darted towards the Altaria with a silver cranium.
Mitsumi was quick on her feet. "Cotton guard Melo!" commanded Mitsumi. Altaria gave a fiery look at Garchomp. The fluff around Altaria's body began to fluff into a very large ball of cotton.
Garchomp collided with the fluff of Altaria and tumbled back being that Melody's defense is raised.
"No!" Cynthia shouted in fear.
The buzzer sounded off.
The crowd grew silent. The host looked at the plasma screen where each of their pokemon health was recorded. Garchomp had a total of 45/100 hit points left, while Melody had a total of 90/100 hit points left.
Confetti burst from the arena. "Wow! Congratulations to our new Champion of Sinnoh!" said the host. Mitsumi glanced at Melody in awe. They darted towards one another and celebrated.
Cynthia's reign as champion was now over. Cynthia has been champion of Sinnoh for almost 10 years.
Jace point of view
As I looked onto the face of my friends, they were just as shocked as I am. "Yo can you believe it?" asked Toni. Toni is one of my best friends. She has olive skin and ash blonde dreadlocks and hazel eyes. She is about five feet tall. Which is tall for a 10 year old. She is the tomboy of us all.
I was the runt out of the group. I had not hit my growth spurt yet so I was standing at about 4 and a half feet tall. I am also the only black one in the group, not that it is a problem. I always kept a light fade and a medium length curly top. My skin is light brown and my eyes are amber.
"Yessss! I am here for it honey!" spoke Azalea. Azalea was the most feminine out of the group. She had beautiful long, voluminous brown hair. Her skin was fair and her eyes were ocean blue. She was always wearing a dress or a skirt.
"You know what that means?" asked Toni. I raised an eyebrow at Toni and Azalea did the same. "What?" we both asked in unison. Toni flicked her hair. "I will have to be the one to end Mitsumi's reign as champion." Toni spoke with confidence.
"I believe in you, you are already the top trainer at school. You are going to do great things." I said. I truly meant it, Toni was a legend in the making. She knows how to engage with pokemon and is everything a trainer should be.
"You can do that, while I become a pokemon breeder." Azalea said.
The crowd continued to cheer for Sinnoh's new Champion Mitsumi. The cheering continued to happen for about twenty more minutes until it subsided.
Soon after, Azalea, Toni and I were walking out the arena. We were waiting on the bus to take us home. We all lived in the same town of Solaceon. A small country town where dreams were definitely big.
"Man, Jace i wish you could start your journey with us tomorrow." Toni said. I looked at the ground twisting my foot on the ground. "I do too, but my mom is pregnant...my little sister is to arrive any day now. With my dad being a mine worker through the day, I need to be there for her." I said.
"You know, I respect that. Maybe one day, we could meet up and battle." said Toni. "Or we could enter a contest together!" said Azalea.
I gave a slight smile and nod to both of him. The truth is, i'm honestly sad at the fact I cannot go on my journey tomorrow. Even though they will have a head start in their journey, does not mean that I will not be equally as successful.
The headlights of the bus came swiftly down the road, we all got inside and was on our way. I sat on the outside as Toni and Azalea sat on the inside. I fastened my seatbelt tightly, just as my mom always told me I should.
"You know, we've been best friends for like five years now. I think we owe each other a promise." said Toni. "Yes, let's owe each other the promise of being friends forever." said Azalea. "No matter what happens." I spoke. I noticed Toni was scuffling in her bag.
She pulled out what seemed to be an old pokemon badge. She broke it into three and tied it with string. She created three necklaces out of it.
"Let's each wear these! No matter where we are, we will always have each other." Toni said with a big cheesy grin. Toni was definitely the one with the biggest heart in the group.
"What are these?" Azalea asked. "They are friendship necklaces, you two are the best friends I could have ever asked for. I promise to always remain your friend. Even if we bump heads." said Toni.
I am not an emotional person, but tears began to form in both of my eyes. I quickly wiped them away and told them I will always be there for them.
"I love you two, so much." said Azalea. She wrapped her arms around our necks and gave us a warm hug.
As I was tightly coiled up in Azalea's hug, I noticed a sign that said Solaceon 12 miles ahead.
It was a comforting feeling that I was almost home. I am eager to start my journey soon as my mom has my sister. It is heartbreaking that my two best friends aren't going to be able to journey with me though.
"Are you going to be ok Jace?" asked Toni.
Before I could reply, the bus made a huge screeching sound and swerved dodging a pokemon in the road. The bus began to lift off of the ground from its side. Before I even knew it we were tumbling down a hill. All I could hear was the sounds of bodies being thrown against the metal walls inside the bus.
Screams of terror and cries of people filled the air. I could not bear to even open my eyes. I did not want to see the aftermath of this. The bus finally seemed to stop tumbling after what felt like forever and I began to open my eyes. I was still secure in my seat. I was unharmed..physically.
Whimpers of bodies nearby flew throughout my ears. I began to start sobbing, I am scared. I just want to be home.
"Toni?" I asked. I looked to my right and see Toni's head smashed against the glass window.
Blood pouring down her encapsulated skull. She was lifeless. My best friend, who always helped me when I was feeling down...dead. She is gone.
I immediately look to my left and see Azalea with a huge slice of glass in her neck, chopping her at the throat. Blood was dripping down her neck. My breathing began to grow unsteady. I am not ok.
I cannot believe that this is happening, two of my best friends are dead.
