He was way too strong. Hawkmoth had finally decided to take on Ladybug and Chat Noir himself; to finally steal their Miraculous' once and for all. But the powerful duo wasn't going to let that happen.
They were so close to defeating him. Their last attempt on striking his source of power involved Chat charging at him with his staff, and Ladybug stealing the item with her yoyo while he was distracted. After all, Hawkmoth was just somewhat of an akuma himself.
The next few moments were all sort of a blur to Ladybug. In one swift moment, she had ripped the cursed item away from their enemy and snapped it in half. But through the sound of her blood pumping, and her heart beating out of her chest with triumph..there was also a pained screech stiffening the air.
She turned her gaze upwards, noticing Hawkmoth was in front of her. He was frozen solid, and just starting to fade. This must be what happens when someone has been controlled that long by an akuma. She then noticed a red liquid trailing down his barely visible arm, and the sword in his hand.
And that Chat was on the ground in a pool of blood...
"No..no no no no no no no-" She stumble to him, tears starting to spill from her eyes. With a small thud, the Ladybug dropped to her knees and quickly cradled her partner as best she could in her arms.
"Chat! Chat, please say something!" Ladybug cried out, breaking down into a crying mess. All she got in reply was a pair if green eyes looking up at her, and a faint whisper of "My..lady-" before he went into a coughing fit. Blood trailed from Chat Noir's lips. The sword had gone through his chest, leaving him with a fatal wound that he was certainly unable to recover from.
"Stay with me! Oh god, please stay with me!" Ladybug cried, desperately trying to keep her partner alive until help arrived. "Chat, please stay awake..I love you."
A small smile played on his lips. The three words he'd been dying to hear were finally said.
"I love yo-.." Were the last words the hero was able to stumble out before he drew his last breath. Ladybug only clutched him and pulled Chat Noir closer, desperately pleading that this was all a nightmare. That some greater power would give him back, or he'd just spring up and say "Just kidding!". She rather a cruel joke than this!
Chat Noir's transformation wore off and Plagg remained by his side. When Ladybug saw his true identity, she stiffened. Her heart was broken, and her will was torn from her. It felt as though she had died with him.
"I don't want to be Ladybug anymore..."
