Disclaimer: I don't own The House on Mango Street
I had to write this poem for english. It's from the book The House on Mango Street and I had to adapt the chapter "Laughter" into a poem. Please, R&R. I don't know if it's any good because it was for school, so I probably didn't put too much effort into it.
LAUGHTER
Nenny and I…
Nenny and I don't look like sisters…
Not right away.
Rachel and Lucy…
Rachel and Lucy have the same popsicle lips like everyone else in their family.
Nenny and Me…
Nenny and me are more alike then you know.
Our Laughter…
Our Laughter…
All of a sudden like a pile of dishes breaking.
One day we were passing a house that looked…
In my mind,
Like houses in Mexico.
I don't know why.
"Look at that house, it looks like Mexico."
Rachel and Lucy…
Look at me like I'm CrAZy.
Nenny says, "Yes, that's Mexico alright. That's what I was thinking exactly."
Exactly…

The word "Mexico" was the colors of the Mexican flag but this wouldn't hold the color, so just imagine that the "Me..." is green and the "xi" is a very light grey cuz white wouldn't show up and the "co..." is red. I might've mixed up the "Me..." and the "co" but deal with it. R&R! THANKS!
