"Are you ok?"
"Don't pretend like you don't care."
"You found me"
"I can't lose you too."
"Are you ok?"
"You're every bit as good as them. Every bit."
"I liked you first."
"Are you ok?"
No, he wasn't ok. Her words were ringing in his ears. She was gone and he would never see her again. He had been able to keep himself together when Rick told him about her banishment, but now lying in her cell, smelling her scent, he couldn't hold back the loud wails that erupted from his body. Everyone heard him; he didn't give a flying fuck.
"She couldn't be here."
"She killed two of our own."
"She's a survivor."
She is, she always had been, but thinking about her being alone out there tore his heart into tiny pieces. He had to face this, had to make himself understand that he would never see that smile again. He would never see those eyes, the bluest eyes in Georgia.
"Stupid bitch."
"I don't want you here!"
"Just go!"
"You ain't my problem."
The words, all those horrible words rang in his ears, they were taunting him. He just wanted his brain to go quiet and the only way to do that was to look into her blue eyes, see that face light up with happiness. Lord, he missed her smile.
In the morning, everyone seemed to know what had happened, and they all cast him sympathetic looks. He had been questioned by a few of the Woodbury people before he was even fully awake.
"How could you side with her?"
"It's awful, really. Letting a murderer get close to you."
"Are you okay?"
They knew her, but they didn't know her. She wasn't like that. He had punched one of them in the damn face for saying something like, "She was a fine piece of ass, crazy, but I'd still like to ha-" It didn't get further than that. Daryl felt like ripping these people to shreds, all the sympathy, and the ruthless glares he got for "siding with the enemy." He'd always side with Carol, no matter who was against her.
He was losing his mind behind these walls; he'd rather be out there and die with her than trapped in her without her. He stood up from breakfast, got everyone's attention.
"I'm going after her. Y'all don't want her here, that's fine by me, must not want me here either then."
He started to walk away, and spotted the panic in Rick's eyes. "Daryl, you can't… We're your family." He laughed loudly at that, what a bunch of horse shit. Family? Nah. "I ain't nothin' without her, Rick. I'm going."
So, he revved up Merle's old bike and took off, leaving the prison and everyone in it behind. Fuck 'em.
I know this isn't very good, just sort of rushed it and its short.
Sorry about that.
I don't own the walking dead.
