I
think I'm in my drama or angst mode. I go into that every now and then. This is
going to have drama, angst, and it's a deathfic. Please review…if you know
what's good for you…(j/k, but please review)

Yes, it was true. He knew he was dying and he knew it was going to be soon. Everything around him just seemed to fade away into the nothingness void he called his life. Death himself was supposed to be eternal, ever living in the mortal realm, but I seems Fate is stronger than Death and it was time to leave.
What a way to go. He figured he would die in some heroic manner, in his gundam fighting for the greater good, but that was not the case. An accident, one second you're here the next second your in the hospital, doctors surrounding you.
It made him feel so helpless, so alone, and unwanted. He could do nothing. The slightest movement could cause something to go wrong and could take him out of his misery. Save for he did not want to leave. He wanted to stay as Death in this mortal realm longer and know what its liked to love and be loved, know what its like to be alive.
No, he did not want anyone to shed a tear. He wanted them to be strong and remember him in the happier times and the worse times. He wanted them to be strong, but they could not. The tear streaked faces were all in the cafeteria awaiting the news. He was too young, he still had his life to live, now that the war was over.
When word of the news first got out, all of his friends, he liked the sound of that word, rushed over immediately. Every second he was growing weaker and his skin began to turn pale. His times was almost up. He wanted to tell everyone how much he loved them and how much he wanted to stay.
His pulse began to slow as the doctors came into the room, he had no parents so he pleaded with them to let his friends in. Fresh tears streamed down their faces, even the perfect soldier was showing the hurt. Hilde grasped his hand in an attempt to keep him here, but there was nothing they could do, in a single second, their lives were changed forever.
"I…love…you all" He managed to gasp. "I have one last wish… never forget… me-be strong. Keep a place… for me in… your hearts-death…will live…e-ternal-ly…" The monitor let out a painful cry as his heart stopped. He was gone, but not forgotten.
Death looked down from the silver lined cloud he was on, his once demonic image transformed into that of an angel. He saw his friend's eyes stream like an endless waterfall and he felt the pain as he watched. He would stay up here and watch them, make sure they were safe. He wanted them to know that he was in a better place and would watch them day and night. Death would be waiting for them all and when they came to visit him finally, every angel would have a smile on his or her face.
A/N: Well, I'm sorry for the depressing deathfic, but it has a semi-happy ending. This was dedicated to a friend of mine who died in a car accident. His personality reminded of Duo so it would fit the fic perfectly. Remember those who are gone with a smile on your face and all the good times you had together. RIP Chase Vaughn '83-'00.
