Hello everyone! So this is a one-shot. It's a song-fic as well. The song is Hello by Evanescence. It's kind of sad, so if you don't like sad stories, move on and don't say I didn't warn you.
This is set in New Moon, if Bella actually had died when she jumped off the cliff. Edward comes instead of Alice.
Edward's POV
I raced down the road to Bella's house. Her dad's cruiser was still there, which means she wasn't at the hospital. Thank god.
I climbed the tree next to her room and swung in through her window. A figure that was standing before the mirror turned to me. Bella smiled a sad smile and hugged her arms to her stomach.
"Edward." She breathed.
"Bella. I'm so sorry. I shouldn't have left." I said, moving toward her.
"No. Don't." She moved away. I furrowed my brow.
She opened her mouth to say something but turned away toward the window. She stood by it and looked out into the rain that had begun it's quiet patter on the roof. She started to sing. It was the last thing I expected her to do, but I didn't interrupt.
"Playground school bell rings again,
Rainclouds come to play again,
Has no one told you she's not breathing?
Hello, I'm your mind, giving you someone to talk to.
Hello."
Bella turned to me, tears falling down her cheeks. What did she mean? I put my hand out to brush her tears away, and this time, she didn't move. Her eyes closed as my hand went through her cheek. I pulled back with a gasp. "B-Bella?"
"If I smile and don't believe,
Soon I know I'll wake,
from this dream."
"Bella how? What-" I couldn't find the words to speak and my throat constricted. I knew if I could cry, I would be blinded by my tears. She placed her hands on the sides of my face, holding it. I could just feel the faintest whisper of air on my cheeks where they rested.
"Don't try to fix me, I'm not broken.
Hello, I'm the lie living for you so you can hide.
Don't cry"
"I loved you Edward. You didn't have to go away." He placed her forehead against mine, looking into my eyes.
"Oh, god Bella. I'm so-" She pressed a kiss to my lips. It was a short chaste kiss before she pulled away. It was so faint.
"Suddenly I know I'm not sleeping,
Hello, I'm still here all that's left of yesterday."
I closed my eyes, listening to her sweet voice. When I opened them, she was gone.
