The Pond Princess
Chapter 1
I must start this story telling you who I am. I am Princess Aislinn Pond. You probably know me as the Princess who married the Frog Prince. His name is Prince William "Frog" DeMontic IV. Many call me the Pond Princess, and even William has constantly called me this, so I prefer to be called the Pond Princess. But you can call me Aislinn if you want. But this story isn't about names.
As you know, William was once a frog. Yes, I mean the croaking ones. He was actually put under a spell by a witch named Thorns. Thorns always hated William's father, King William DeMontic III. Don't ask me why, she just did. When William was thirteen, and on a hunt, Thorns found him and turned him into a frog. William was still able to talk though, but Thorns made sure that William was unable to talk his own men or family. He was in sticky mud all right.
So, I'm outside my own castle and I decide to play with my ball. This ball is solid gold, and is very dear to me, since it was my Grandmother's. She died a year before this whole fiasco started, and entrusted this ball to me.
Like I said, I was foolishly playing with the ball by a well, when (surprise, surprise) it fell down. I was so afraid that my father would punish me, and I was extremely sad that my beloved ball would be gone forever, that I began to cry.
Apparently, William the Frog heard me, and came over to see what the commotion was about and found me. He came to me and asked, "Girl, why are you crying?"
I was shocked to hear someone actually call me a girl, not a princess (I was VERY vain), that I exclaimed, "Who are you? Show yourself! I am the Princess! I order you to come here right now!"
"Down here!" I looked down, and gasped in horror. An ugly, greenish- brown frog looked up at me with huge yellow eyes. A red-pink tongue slipped it's way out of it's mouth, and drool soon followed. I looked away in disgust, and bile rose up in my throat. "What's wrong, Princess?"
"Um…" I managed to say, "My ball has fallen down the well. I can't get it. The ball means very much to me."
"I shall get it for you, for a price."
"Anything! Just give me my ball."
"You must agree that I am allowed into the palace."
"Okay, sounds sensible. Now can you-" "And allow me to eat dinner next to you," the Frog rudely interrupeted.
"Fine! No get me my-"
"And you must allow me to sleep in your bed."
I stopped and thought about this. A disgusting sleeping next to me?! But I desperatly wanted my ball. "Okay!" I blurted out.
"Do you promise?"
"With all my heart," I replied hastily.
"Okay." The frog waddled over to the well, jumped in, and came out with my ball in his mouth. I was repulsed, and snatched the ball out of the frog's mouth. "I shall see you tonight then."
"Yeah, whatever." I ran to the castle without thinking twice about the promise I made. Boy, was I in for a surprise.
