"NEO!"
Neopolitan closed her eyes. This was it. She was going to die. There was no point in trying to save herself. If the fall didn't destroy her, the grimm would. Besides, what was the point in staying alive? Roman wouldn't make it either. Neo dared to open her eyes. She was still falling. She'd be falling for a while. She wondered what had happened to Roman. He was gone now too, most likely. She wouldn't see him ever again anyways, it was fine. She looked down again. Still falling. She thought about how she'd spend the last few minutes of her life. She looked towards her parasol. It wouldn't save her life, but it'd give her at least a few more seconds. Neo opened it, and immediately felt herself slow down. She pondered how she'd spend the last two minutes of her life. She knew how. Daydreaming, the most normal thing about her life as a mute, psychopathic criminal. She thought about Roman, how he promised her that once their role in Cinder's plan was finished, they'd make a run for it and live their lives off in Vacuo, or another less reputable part of Remnant. Maybe they'd get fake faunus face markings and move to Menagerie. That'd work too. They'd commit crimes and wreak havoc, just as he promised her. She remembered all those nights, back when they were still petty thieves, like Emerald. Emerald, one of the few other criminals she found tolerable. Granted, she wasn't as fun as Junior or Mercury, but she wasn't as much of a brat as Melanie and Militia. And Cinder was impossible. Neo had learned to just avoid the woman, for her own safety. She hated the idea of posing as her partner, the thought of it made her feel disgusting. Roman was her partner. Roman would always be her partner. He saved her from a group of thugs in an alleyway, took her to Junior's club, and they became the ultimate duo. They were all that each other needed. She loved him, and he loved her. Before they had joined Cinder Fall and her associates, they lived carefree lives, minus the occasional breaking out of prison. Cinder's plans were just too structured. Crime wasn't fun without a little chaos. The only reason they hadn't left already was because Cinder would find them, and that would mean certain death. Not that it mattered now. Neo looked down again. Only about a minute left. She only then realized how high up she was. Even with the parasol, it shouldn't have taken that long to fall. No matter. Neo was going to think happy thoughts, happy memories. Roman. Roman was holding her in his arms. He was playing with her hair and gently nipping and kissing her ears. He cupped her chin, whispering sweet nothings to her. She spun around to face him, putting her arms around him.
"I love you."
That was the last she ever saw of him.
AN: I wrote this today on a plane. I basically got the idea of, "I wonder what people think when they know they're about to die," and came up with this. I would have made it longer, but considering Neo was thinking about this for like, three minutes, 500 words was a reasonable length. I might make a side story about Roman and Neo's love story if I have time.
