Ellidya Opali and the Avalon Girls' School
Well, this is my Harry Potter fanfic, but it doesn't feature Harry or even Hogwarts for a few years into Ellidya's school life. I'll try to keep you entertained with Akki and Aurah and Kassandra and all my other weird characters. The first chapter is sort of rushed, because it's basically a summary of Ellidya's life up until her admission to the school. It's also sort of short.
Chapter One: The Accursed GirlThe day the child was born, a meteor hit the earth and almost crushed her doctor's car. Her eight-year old cousin was frightened by this event. The young girl screamed something in panic as she unconsciously hexed the baby. At about this time, the cat appeared.
It was wearing a frayed lilac scarf and an old grey sweatshirt labeled "Mortals Bore Me," and was singing a piece from a Gilbert and Sullivan, though no one knew which one. The demon – for this is what the Opali family now knew the creature to be – introduced itself as Akuera the Untimely, and calmly sat down to wait for the baby to awaken.
The child grew, and the cat grew with her. All the exorcists in the business couldn't remove it. After a while, her parents stopped trying to get rid of her personal demon, which is probably a very lucky thing. At age three, little Ellidya fell out of a tree and landed on Akuera, now five feet long. The next morning, her young eyes were an entirely different color. Her cousin Aurah (now an indomitable eleven-year-old) tried to change them back to their original baby blue. Unfortunately, she singed the soft yellow hair off the front of Ellidya's head instead. It grew back jet-black.
That summer, Aurah was accepted at a magical boarding school in Iceland. The Opalis were very relieved. Ellidya grew and grew, and life for the violet-eyed youngster was relatively calm. She became good friends with Akuera, now addressed simply as "Akki." At eleven years old, Ellidya began her life at Avalon, New England's best school of magic.
