Neville Longbottom: The Other Chosen One
Neville Longbottom is the underdog in the Harry Potter Series, and though he is a social outcast, as he matures, he begins to show more and more potential to do something heroic in the end. Here is a story of Neville Longbottom: The Other Chosen one.
Neville often did things without getting credit, for instance, in book one, it was Neville's "rememberall" that Harry caught in the air on a broomstick which showed Professor Mcgonagal that he was seeker material, and caused him to become Gryfindor's youngest Quidditch player.
Though he was one of the stronger members of Dumbledore's Army, he never truly showed everyone his strengths, and it always seemed as if he was hiding something. But, in the seventh and final book he showed his true colors by being the leader of Dumbledore's army at Hogwarts, and finding the room of requirement a second
Time, resulting in the safety of Dumbeldore's Army.
All of these things seemed to amount to something, something that almost every reader was trying to find out in their head. Chat rooms and other places were all stumped as to what Neville Longbottom could be cut out to be. But, as some readers may remember in the fifth HP book, the prophecy says: "The one with the power to vanquish the Dark Lord approaches... Born to those who have thrice defied him, born as the seventh month dies... and the Dark Lord will mark him as his equal, but he will have power the Dark Lord knows not... and either must die at the hand of the other for neither can live while the other survives... the one with the power to vanquish the Dark Lord will be born as the seventh month dies..." (OotP pg 841/741)
In one part of the 5th book, Dumbledore calls Harry into his office, and begins to speak to him about the prophecy, he says exactly this: "The odd thing is, Harry," he said softly, "that it may not have meant you at all. Sibyll's prophecy could have applied to two wizard boys, both born at the end of July that year, both of whom had parents in the Order of the Phoenix, both sets of parents having narrowly escaped Voldemort three times. One, of course, was you. The other was Neville Longbottom." (OotP pg 842/742)
Now, because this prophecy could apply to either of them, in the seventh book, you may have realized that Harry only half-killed Voldemort, the other half of the murder, was committed by Neville Longbottom, who killed the last remaining Horcrux, Voldemort's snake, Nagini.
So, if I'm not mistaken, the Harry Potter Books could very well have been Neville Longbottom books, because there are two "Chosen Ones" one being Harry Potter, and the other, Neville Longbottom.
