Disclaimer: I don't own One Piece

AN: Just a preview for this piece, it's my first One Piece Fanfic, and something that I've been stewing over, and liked the idea too much not to do it. I make no claims towards this being any good, and I make no guarantee that this will be any good. I only have an idea for the beginning, the ending is still up in the air and I'll have to see how things go. Consider this a rough draft, something I'm throwing out there to see the reaction.

Long Live the Pirate King

Chapter 1

It had been fifteen years since the man known as Monkey D. Luffy had become the king of pirates. It had been twelve years since that man had been captured and executed, his crew scattered around the world, still evading the world government, even after twelve years.

But that is a completely different story, this story happens on a much smaller scale. It begins in the village of Mocca, on an island far away from the tumultuous events that occurred on the grand line.

It was a good, sunny day. The crops were growing, and there were no troubles from pirates or bandits. A young widow, named Masami, was busy at her job as the village librarian's assistant. She was a timid woman, of medium build, with black hair that reached past her shoulders that she kept in a ponytail. She had two children, a fourteen year old son, named Mikan, and a twelve year old daughter, named Nuku. They lived a quiet life, on the edge of the village, and though the children were often in the village playing with the other village children, Masami spent most of her time either in the library, or at their house.

Masami had come to the village eleven years ago, shortly after the capture and execution of the Pirate King. Her husband had been part of the fleet that had captured the Pirate King, but unfortunately he had died in the battle. Left alone to raise her two children, Masami left their home, to escape from painful memories, and to live her life in peace, away from Pirates, or the Marines.

Of course that hadn't worked out as well as she'd hoped, as her closest neighbor's husband was a marine commander. But the people were so kind to her and her half orphaned children that she felt the village was good enough to stay.

Her job as an assistant librarian worked perfectly for her, as she found that she was able to loose herself in the books, and escape from painful memories. Sometimes though she would venture into romance novels, which only brought back those memories, but she still found herself morbidly obsessed with those books. Especially those rare novels that were about a romance between pirates. She really didn't know why they interested her so much, but she just found herself drawn to them.

Her days passed by with little happening, and that's just how she liked it. Even though everyone in the village was friendly, she kept to herself and rarely spoke to anyone. In fact, this very day, this very nice day as it was, she did little but go to work, shelf books, read, and then went home to take make dinner for herself and her children.

It was a boring, and peaceful life. And that's just the way she liked it.

But then, things changed.
