I wrote this poem for english class and I just wanted to post it on to see if I got any reviews for it.
The Truth of Teiresias's Gift
Teiresias, strong willed by nature, but cursed from birth
Her people cast her out as a weakling, a disabled nuisance
Even her family was ignorant to her potential
The journey was long and rough, and isn't yet over
Ruined cities and ruined lives follow in her wake
Underneath her cool façade, a battle was raging
Try as she might to deny her destiny,
Her fate was decided, her abilities sought out,
Oracle, through her blinded eyes her mind could see as clearly as ever,
For she was the one to guide those of blinded soul through the mysteries of the unknown.
Truth was always the last gift of the gods before Hades took your soul.
Even the wisest of men were blind to their own folly.
In his pride, the King Creon found his downfall.
Reaching the point of no return, his last revelation was final,
Everyone close to him had perished due to his own foolish mistake.
Slowly, Teiresias turned her away from the destruction, guided by the young boy's hand.
In god's hand her own fate rested, try as she might, she was a puppet like all the rest.
Alas, her well known gift was a poison to all those who heard it, Oracle of Death, her
Sight as clear as ever, but her
Soul was no longer hers, but sacrificed each time she saw, and failed to stop, what didn't need to happen
Gifts from gods are best left unopened, because
In time, the gods will always take back what is theirs
For fate is not a thing to be toyed with, and no mortal could walk the path between mortals and gods and remain unscathed
The simple thing that is life will always be denied her.
