Chandrelle's POV:

My head was spinning and I couldn't see straight. Jasper had been demanding more and more of me lately. His tests became more difficult for me to pass. He trained me until my bones cracked. But it was all worth it. Soon, Jasper would unleash me to the outside world to do what I was born to do. Kill the boy wonder.

~2 weeks later~

I stood next to Jasper quietly, watching the cars go by from our little dark alley. Gotham city wasn't at all what I had expected. But this wasn't the time to worry about that. I needed to stick to the plan.

Jasper put his hand on my shoulder. "Are you ready?" He asked.

I nodded slowly.

"Good, get into position."

I followed his command and walked onto the sidewalk. I screamed, looked around frantically and began to run. I heard Jasper's footsteps behind me. I heard the sound of his gun being loaded. What I didn't expect to hear was the sound of it being fired. I flinched as I felt the bullet fly right past my ear but I kept running. This had to look realistic. "Help! Somebody please help me!" I cried, trying to sound as desperate as I could.

"Get back here!" Jasper yelled behind me.

I kept running, shouting at people to move out of the way. I heard another gunshot and immediately fell to the ground, gripping my leg in pain. This wasn't exactly the plan, but it had to seem like I was generally in danger. I screamed once more as Jasper's body loomed over mine.

"Now you're mine." He sneered as he lifted the gun to my head.

I looked around. Where is that damn boy wonder? I turned away and closed my eyes, trying to look as helpless as possible. Suddenly I heard Jasper shout immediately followed by a loud thud. I opened my eyes to see Jasper laying on the sidewalk a few feet away. He must've been hit pretty hard, Jasper didn't go down easy. Believe me, I knew.

"Hey, are you alright?" A soft male voice spoke.

I looked to my left to see Robin extending his hand towards me with a friendly smile on his face. "Y-yes I'm fine." I stammered as I took his hand.

He hoisted me up and let me lean against him for support. "Thank goodness. C'mon, let's get that leg looked at."

I pretended to smile and be grateful. I let the boy wonder lead me to the hospital which was luckily on the same block. I know getting shot was a sacrifice I had to make but it still hurt like a bitch.

Robin had insisted on staying with me in the hospital room even after the bullet was taken out. "Can I call your parents for you?" He offered.

I shook my head. "They're dead." I replied bluntly. It was true, or at least I had assumed so. I haven't seen my parents since I was three years old.

Robin looked uncomfortable. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean-"

"It's okay." I cut him off. "So what are you still doing here? Don't you have a city to protect?"

He chuckled. "I just wanted to make sure you were okay. A pretty girl like you shouldn't be out on her own."

I smiled at this. I knew I was pretty but it was still nice to hear it from someone other than Jasper.

"What's your name?" Robin asked me.

"Chandrelle."

"That's a beautiful name. I like it, it suits you."

"Thank you." I smiled sweetly. I didn't ask for your opinion, boy wonder.

The room was awkwardly quiet for a few minutes. I was beginning to doubt the plan when Robin spoke up.

"Do you have anywhere to go?" He asked, breaking the silence.

I shook my head slowly, trying my best to look lost and pathetic.

Robin looked at his feet nervously, "You wouldn't wanna come stay with me and the rest of my team by any chance, would you?"

I widened my eyes. "Are you serious?! That'd be great!" Cool it Chandrelle, don't look TOO excited. I mentally scolded myself.

Robin seemed to light up at this. "Great! I'd have to check with Aqualad, but I'm sure he'll find no problem in letting you stay for a while. I'm going to go call him." Robin stepped out of the room, shutting the door to my hospital room slowly behind him.

Once he was gone, I smirked to myself. "Such a gullible little boy."
