Larry Daley let out a loud yawn as he walked up the steps to the Museum of Natural History, an hour before sunset. When he opened the door, he could practically feel the excited energy crackling around everyone in the vicinity. The museum director, Doctor McPhee, glanced sideways at Larry and quickly finished the discussion he had to hurry over. "What's happening?" Larry questioned.
"Cleopatra was found, and we got her!" He announced excitedly. Larry blinked in surprise.
"When was she found?"
"A few days ago, but what does that matter! The Smithsonian wanted her, but we won," he gloated, as if it was only him that made it a reality.
"When is she moving in?"
"Already have her situated," McPhee said airily. She's in that empty room next to Akhmenrah." He glanced at his watch, and moved towards the door. "I will see you tomorrow, Mister Daley," he called, disappearing into the crowed of people.
When everyone was gone, Larry quickly made his way to Cleopatra's tomb, wanting to explain everything that was going to happen. At night, every exhibit comes to life because of the Tablet of Akhmenrah. A few weeks earlier, the tablet was almost stolen by three night guards before Larry, but they were stopped thanks to the joint efforts of some exhibits and Larry himself.
He loved his job and the people, or exhibits, he was able to hang out with.
Looking at his watch, Larry saw that there was one more minute before sunset, so he quickly went over a mental checklist of what he needed to explain to the Queen to make sure she understood.
When a minute passed, Larry could hear stirring the sarcophagus. A couple seconds later, a pounding. Larry pushed open the sarcophagus, and a tightly wrapped mummy popped up, looking straight at him. "Cleopatra?" He questioned. The head tilted to the side momentarily before nodding. "My name's Larry Daley. I'm gonna help you get out of these, alright?" He said, motioning to wrappings covering her entire body. The mummy nodded again, holding out an arm.
Larry began unraveling the wrap, revealing smooth, tan skin beneath. When he finally got to her head, straight, dark hair fell past her shoulders, and hazel eyes that were predominately green stared at him. "Larry Daley," the woman repeated.
"Yes, that's right," Larry said with a smile.
"What year is this, Larry Daley?"
"Two thousand and seven." Cleopatra blinked.
"How am I alive?" She questioned.
"How are you speaking English?" Larry countered, extremely curious as to as to what the answer might be. A slow smile worked its way across her face.
"Just because you could not see me, does not mean I was not there," she replied easily.
"So, you heard when people went looking for you?" Cleopatra nodded.
"When they had not found Akhmenrah yet, his tablet also reached me. Almost every other night, I would hear people looking for me." She paused, looking straight into Larry's eyes. "Is Akmenrah's tablet here?" Larry nodded.
"Wait, you know about the tablet?"
"I just explained half of it to you." A couple seconds later, there was the familiar clomp clomp clomp of a horse heading in their direction, and Theodore Roosevelt quickly rushed in.
"Larry, I was wondering where you went," Teddy laughed, clapping the man on the shoulder. "Who is this?" He had finally seen that there was someone else in the area.
"Teddy, meet Cleopatra, Queen of the Nile."
"Milady," Teddy greeted before Larry's words came back full force.
Teddy pitched forward and passed out.
Author's Note: Incase anyone wants to look up how I picture Cleopatra, look up Kristen Kruek as Cleopatra. She looked just like how I pictured the Queen of the Nile would look like.
Anyway, I do not claim ownership to this story, so please don't sue. Second, I love reviews, so please leave some. Thanks.
