Summary: Bela conducts a business transaction.

"Give me the talisman or I'll use your guts for garters and your rib cage as a xylophone."

Rafter raised his eyebrows at Bela's words, the huff of laugh indicating his disbelief. "You and what army? Please Miss, don't hurt me," he mocked.

Bela kept her gun hand steady, pointed at his chest. It wasn't the first time that she'd had a supplier try to double-cross her or up the price and it wouldn't be the last. They seemed to think that as a woman she would just meekly give in. They were wrong.

She shifted her aim and fired. The man crumpled to the ground in agony, clutching at his foot. The hole in it would discourage Rafter from trying to mess with her again.

"I believe this is mine," Bela said as she retrieved the talisman off the ground and dropped a roll of cash, minus ten percent for poor customer service, beside him. "It was a pleasure doing business with you. We must do it again sometime."

She studied the talisman as she walked away. It would fetch ten times what she'd paid for it when she sold it to her client in Europe. A worthwhile investment.
