Authors Note: These two are so fucking cute. The Brain/Brawn aspect is just… so good. Plus, Miriel's Japanese voice is adorable.

It's been about a year since Ylisse and Ferox's combined effort against Plegia and things couldn't have been quieter. Even married to Vaike, the rowdiest shepherd had its down moments. Not that Miriel complained, she could use this time to work on her scientific discoveries.

She poured over her mother's notes, endeavouring to decipher the calculations she once told Vaike about.

Suddenly, the door to her study flew open and banged against the wall. Vaike hollered with laughter. Miriel stood up, scraping her chair against the wooden floor and slammed her palms against the desk.

"What in Naga's name do you think you are doing you uncivilized oaf? Do you intend on refurbishing that door once you've destroyed it?" She blamed her irritation solely on the lack of sleep.

Completely unfazed, Vaike's grin grew and he slapped the wood frame, "Heya Miriel! There's a festival in town, let's go."

Miriel frowned, "Absolutely not. This is hardly the time for fooling around. I'm on the brink of decrypting my mother's notes and I do not wish to be disrupted."

Vaike blinked. "After all this time I still ain't got a clue what yer saying half the time. It'll be an experiment."

Perhaps she was being harsh. After all, it's been longer than Miriel did anything remotely romantic with Vaike. She just wasn't an affectionate person by nature.

Giving in a little, she asked, a tinge of hesitancy to her voice, "What kind of experiment?"

Once again, Vaike's face lit up and he clapped his hands together. "Like with the ale house. To watch people in their natural habitat or whatever it was you said."

Miriel smiled, deflating, "Alright."

Vaike let out a whoop and crossed Miriel's study in three steps. He dragged her around her desk and hauled her onto his back. Miriel let out an uncouth sound.

"This is highly impractical!" She protested, squirming to be put back on her feet. Vaike merely laughed and tightened his grip on her thighs. "Vaike! Put me down this instant! This is humiliating."

"Nah!" he kicked open the front door of their home. Having no other choice, Miriel hugged his bare shoulders (how she cursed his warrior getup). "Why wouldn't I want to show off my wife?"

"You incorrigible –" her insult died in her throat due to the uncountable stares from surrounding citizens. Mortified, Miriel tugged her hat further over her head and buried her face in Vaike's shoulder. Her cheeks burned.

"I love ya, Miriel!" Vaike yelled. Miriel pressed her face harder against his bare skin, wondering what kind of experiment this was. Cheers erupted from the crowd and she briefly contemplated tightening her grip around his jugular.

Never in her twenty years would a situation such as this ever arise. Flustered, she squeezed her thighs around his hips.

"Return me to the ground!" she demanded, wishing for nothing more that in this moment her husband wasn't taller or stronger than her. Vaike smiled and complied.

Miriel splayed her hands over her face, smudging her glasses in the process. So much for a festival. One of Vaike's large hands clasped around her much smaller wrist and pried her hand from her face.

"Yer very cute when you blush, Miriel," he said devilishly. "You can trust Teach on this one." Flabbergasted and horrified further when a few people whistled, her lips twitched in a fleeting attempt to argue with him.

Vaike crushed her against his chest and captured her lips in a passionate kiss. Miriel didn't have a second to think and her head spun from the sudden display of affection.

She slapped his chest, hard, which broke the kiss. She stepped away from him, fixing herself and still rather red.

His grin was so infectious she couldn't help but smile in return. Damn him… His tight grip on her hand remained firm, never yielding and Miriel wondered if his hand would always be this warm. She loved him more than anything in this world and… and she would rather die than lose him.

So maybe… just this once she would indulge him. Swallowing her embarrassment, Miriel tugged on his hand, gaining his attention. With her free hand, she reached up gathering the fur between her fingers and tugged him down, pressing her lips against his awkwardly.

Vaike shifted his arm around her waist, coaxing her to relax into the kiss. It ended sooner than Miriel wanted.

"I love you," she proclaimed. Vaike smiled, peppering kisses over her face repeating her words back to her.

Even though they were in the middle of the street, being watched by strangers, Miriel suddenly didn't care. All she cared about was her big oaf of a husband and how much she truly loved him. And that was enough for both of them.

THESE two are my fucking weakness. (Along with HenryxOlivia and GaiusxRobin…) GOD THEY'RE SO FUCKING PERFECT! Sorry… anyways, review if you so feel inclined and I hope you enjoyed my little drabble.
