So episode 8 just happened. Words can't express my joy at the episode, and it inspired me to write my second contribution to this great anime.
Disclaimer: I don't own Hikibe! Euphonium or any of its characters.
"You definitely have a terrible personality, Kumiko." The words slide off her tongue so easily, and to Reina they make perfect sense. What girl would carry a euphonium up an infinite flight of stairs just because someone she attended middle school with requested it? Not only that but by doing so she completely missed the festival. She could have gone with that Shuichi kid or her friends. Reina knows she has friends, she's seen her talking daily with the ironically tiny contra-bass player and the tall tuba girl. Still, despite the unreasonable request, she tagged along.
On second thought, this doesn't sound terrible at all. But there's no way Reina has the courage to tell her she actually loves her personality. She knows what she would say if she could.
She loves how Kumiko encourages and supports her friends.
She loves the smooth tone and rich warmth Kumiko generates when she plays the euphonium.
Most of all, she loves the mystery, and she wants to know more.
Even if she told Kumiko all of this, the naïve girl would never believe her. She had even mentioned love while climbing the mountain and the teen simply shrugged it off.
Maybe one day she'll be able to tell her.
For now she'll stick with the terrible personality thing.
Yes it's very short but I hope you enjoyed it.
