I just wanted to write something quick about my second fave couple :D (My fave is Maggie and Delos, but I can't write about them well. Jez and Morgead's personalities are similar to my own, so it's easy to write about them.)

I don't own Night World.

Out in the Rain

"Okay, maybe this didn't go as planned," Morgead said. He looked at me apologetically.

"It's not your fault that it's raining," I said. I narrowed my eyes at him.

He shrugged his shoulders and looked out of the windshield into the rain.

"Urgh. Why did Circle Daybreak headquarters have to move to Washington? It rains constantly!" he was glaring now.

I held his hand. He looked back at me.

"It's not your fault, Morgead! And why are you so annoyed about it?" I said.

His expression softened. "I'm sorry. I'm making it worse, aren't I? I'll try to stop."

I smiled. "Good," I said, and I leaned forwards to kiss him.

He kissed me back gently, obviously being careful. Just because I was half human. I was still half vampire!

He pulled back, and looked out the window again.

"We could still go out," I said.

"In the rain...?" His eyes widened when I glared at him. "Oh, all right. But don't blame me if your hair goes crazy."

"I won't; it's crazy all the time," I said, and I opened my door to step outside.

"So... what do you actually want to do in the rain?" Morgead said as he came up behind me. He folded his arms around my waist and kissed my neck.

I span round and laughed. "Anything!"

Morgead caught me and span round with me. He was laughing too, now. I kissed him again, this time harder. I didn't want him to be careful with me.

And he responded. He kissed me harder than he ever had before, holding me close to him. I tangled my hands in his hair, not giving him any way to escape.

He didn't seem to want to.

We had to end the kiss, after a while. We parted reluctantly, still not letting go of each other.

"You said we could do anything in the rain," Morgead said. I opened my eyes and looked at him. His handsome face was happy and excited.

"Yes," I answered, gazing at him suspiciously.

"Do you want to dance?"

A short laugh burst out of me as I nodded. "Okay, I'd like that."

He held one of my hands, leaving the other around my waist. I left my other hand around his neck, still leaving virtually no space between us.

"Umm... Morgead, not being rude or anything, but..." I pursed my lips. "Can you dance?"

Morgead rolled his eyes. "You learn a new thing about me every day," he said.

We started dancing, which he could do very well.

"You're good," I muttered. He laughed and kissed my forehead.

"Thanks," he whispered against my forehead. "You are too."

I pulled his head down so that I could kiss him again, not as hard as before, but still harder than usual.

"Jez..." he whispered. He dropped my hand and put it around my waist again, holding me tight, as if he were afraid to let me go.

"Jez..." he whispered again. "There was more than one reason that I was angry at it raining. I wanted this day to be perfect."

"It is," I insisted.

He smiled. "Now it is, but I wanted to be able to do this properly."

"Do what?" I said.

"Jez, I love you. So much," he said.

"I know," I murmured, tightening my arms around his neck.

There was a pause for a couple of seconds. Morgead took a deep breath.

"Will you marry me?"

I opened my eyes in shock, and watched his emerald eyes.

"Yes," I whispered. I smiled.

"Yes," I whispered again, and we carried on dancing.

~ * ~ * ~

Much shorter than my Ash and Mary-Lynnette one, I know, but the story wanted to end here.
