Blame it on the aliens...

Scully checked her watch again. Mulder was late. Ten minutes late. She was annoyed as he promised to be at her place to fix the leak under her sink. She crossed her arms over her chest as she sat on her couch.

Finally, there was a knock on her door, and she went to answer it. She rolled her eyes as she saw it was Mulder, he was dressed in jeans and t-shirt.

She opened the door and let him in. "What took you so long?" Scully asked. Mulder shrugged sheepishly. "I had to get my tool box ready," he said. "And it was those aliens, Scully. They were messing around with my alarm clock again," he said. Scully gave him the look. "Yes. It's always those aliens, isn't It, Mulder?" She asked as Mulder walked into her apartment, like a dog with his tail between his legs, knowing he had done something wrong to upset his owner.

Scully lead the way to the kitchen. "Here," she said, and Mulder went to it. He leant down and started to tighten the valve with a tool. "Why didn't you ring for a plumber, Scully?" Mulder complained when the valve refused to budge. Scully leaned casually against the counter.

"I don't know, Mulder," she said. "I guess those aliens have been tampering with my phone," she said. Mulder grinned. "See, Scully?" He asked. "I told you the aliens are behind everything," he told her.

Scully rolled her eyes again. "I thought on the phone you said you could fix it," she said. Mulder tried turning the valve again. "I said I can try," he told her.

"After all, plumbing Isn't in my job description," he said. Scully grinned. "No, but chasing aliens is," she said, and Mulder nodded. "You know me well, Scully," he said. Finally he managed to tighten the valve.

"See? All done," he said boastfully. Scully raised an eyebrow. "Beginner's luck," she said and Mulder stood up. "Mock all you like, Scully," he said. "But there's no denying it. I'm an FBI agent by day, plumber by night," he said proudly, twirling the screwdriver in his hand. "Really? So that's why you remind me of Mario from the Mario brothers," she said with a grin.

Mulder looked hurt so she placed a hand on his arm. "Thanks for fixing it," Scully said. "You're my knight in shining armor," she added. Mulder looked at her proudly again. "No problem," he said. "Next time those aliens spring a leak, let me know. I'll fix it," he said as he placed his tools back in the box.

"Yeah. You'll be the first person I'll dial," Scully said as Mulder walked across the room. "Good. Sorry Scully but I've got to go now. I gotta be somewhere," he told her as he looked at his watch hurriedly. "Go where? Mulder, I know you LIVE in your office. Where do you need to go in such a hurry?" She asked.

"Oh, I don't know. Let's just say I have an appointment... with those aliens," he said. Scully raised an eyebrow. "Of course," she said. "My friends are going to help me communicate with it," Mulder said.

"Friends? You're talking about the Lone Gunmen, aren't you Mulder? You're playing dungeons and dragons with them aren't you?" She asked with a grin.

Mulder smiled mysteriously. "Maybe. Maybe not. ET phone home," he said with a grin, before seeing himself out. "See you tomorrow at work, Scully," he told her. "Yeah. If those aliens don't cause a traffic jam," Scully called after him as he smiled at her.

She smiled and closed the door. As if on cue, the ET movie began on her TV. "Blame it on the aliens," she thought to herself as she sat down and watched the movie.
