'But I wanna be a pretty girl' Constance slumped into the chair, the stiffness of the wood pressing into her back. She rubbed her eyes and sighed. 'We've talked about this. You're going as snoopy again or you won't go at all!' Constance grabbed the bottle of whiskey and poured another drink into the glass.
Adelaide glared at her, 'I don't want to be snoopy! I want to be a pretty girl!' Constance had had enough; she stood up forcing the chair back into the front of the cabinet. 'Christ on a stick! You're never going to be a pretty girl! Can't you see you're different from everyone else! God gave you other gifts so that you were special. And if I hear one more goddamn word about pretty girls I'm going to lock you in the bad girl's closet. Am I clear? Now go to your room!' Constance took the glass and drained the entire glass. The harshness of the booze burning as it went down.
Adelaide ran off the muffled sounds of her crying echoed through the rooms. Constance knew she was hard on her but the little bug eye didn't know when to quit it. She felt hot and angry tears rise to the surface and this time she wasn't going to fight them.
