Adam slowly crept up the stairs to Michael Corvin's apartment. He was nervous; the last time he saw Michael was a few days ago. He had seemed very freaked out and was definitely not himself. Adam briefly considered whether or not it had something to do with the strange bite Michael had suffered.
Adam could hear faint voices coming from Michael's apartment and was immediately on high alert. As he crept up the stairs he began to hear more noises, like the running of a microwave. Adam could distinctly hear the voices now. A man's voice, Michael's presumably, said, "I'm going to take a shower, Selene. I'll be back in a minute."
Another voice, one of a woman that he did not recognize said, "I'll be fine Michael. I've survived on my own." To Adam the voice sounded frigid and detached. He wondered who the woman was and why Michael would be with someone like that. Finally he reached the door to Michael's apartment. The door was slightly ajar and Adam pushed it open. Suddenly he found himself pinned against the wall in a steel-like grip and staring down the muzzle of a gun. Michael appeared right next to the woman, putting his hands on her shoulders.
"Selene it's alright. It's only Adam. He used to work with me at the hospital." Michael said, and that seemed to calm her down. She let him go and stalked off to another corner of the room, her eyes watching him warily. She went over to a couch and sat down, placing her gun on the side table.
"Michael-" Adam began to say, but Michael stopped him.
"Adam, this is Selene, she's the woman I told you about that day in the hospital."
"You mean the one who held you hostage?"
"She saved my life that night, and I owe her my life."
"So? Michael, she's crazy! She held a gun to my face! "
"I can still hear, you know. I am NOT crazy, if you had been through the things I have been through, seen the things I have seen, you would be the same."
"I doubt it. Michael the police have been looking for you everywhere. Where were you?"
"I was… away. I can't tell you. It's … complicated."
"Well, you need to get out of here now. The police are coming."
"Seriously?"
"Yeah."
"Selene," Michael said, "I'll start the car, you get whatever we need."
She nodded and picked up a big duffel bag from the floor. She handed it to Adam, saying, "if you're going to be here, hold this."
It was heavy, probably at least 50 pounds, and he struggled to lift it. Adam took a peek inside ansd saw that it was full of packs of a liquid, that looked strangely like blood. On top of them, there was a large assortment of guns. Uzis, Magnums, and Berettas were all thrown in , with the appropriate ammunition.
He wondered again who this woman was and how she had taken Michael under her spell. She stopped in front of him and took the bag out of his hands after throwing a few articles of clothing inside. Adam now noticed that Selene was wearing a strange sort of black cat-suit with a corset and a leather trenchcoat over it. She saw his gaze linger on her garb.
"yes, I know I look strange now don't just stand there staring let's leave."
Suddenly they heard the car's engine growl down in the parking lot and then she left without a backwards glance.
That was the last time Adam ever saw Michael or the woman again.
