He nodded. "During Black Death there weren't enough people or time to bury the dead traditionally; they were often dumped in pits sans ceremony."
Rose noticed that the Doctor's sight concentrated on one spot in the crowd of lying dead and noticed a dark harshness on his face.
She shuddered and knew that he had been here before.
