Cloud finds Aeris praying near a pond. He silently keeps looking at her. When Aeris finishes her prayer, she looks up, closes her eyes and smiles. Cloud looks up to see what she's smiling at, and to his surprise, he sees Sephiroth falling from the sky with the blade of his sword pointed down at Aeris. Cloud tried to grab for his sword, but couldn't have it at hand quick enough to deflect Sephiroth from Aeris. Sephiroth stabbed her through the back. Aeris's eyes became blank, her hands fell to her sides, and the white materia in her ribbon went flying. Cloud ran to catch the materia and he did. Sephiroth carefully slid his sword from out of Aeris's back and just stood there looking righteous. Cloud pulled out his sword and charged at Sephiroth. He successfully stabbed Sephiroth through his stomach. Until his body went limp, Cloud held Sephiroth above the ground on his sword. Once Sephiroth was still, Cloud threw him over the edge of the platform he was standing on and watched Sephiroth hit the ground and watch his body splatter against the concrete. Cloud turns around and props Aeris against a wall as Tifa, Yuffie, and the gang go to see Aeris and Cloud. Everybody takes their turn to give their respects to Aeris, and then Cloud is left alone with her. Cloud kneels next to her body, and kisses her lips gently. Then a brilliant idea gets into his mind. He pulls the 'Life' materia out of his pocket and remembers that it casts revive on anybody. He used it on Aeris and her eyes became lively, and she blinked. With tears of joy streaming down his face, Cloud gave Aeris a hug. In an instant, Cloud had Aeris in his arms and was carrying her towards the gang. She looked at al of them and smiled sweetly. Tifa hugged Barret, Yuffie jumped with glee, Cid was jumping around with his arms in the air shouting, "Yeah!!!," and Vincent was shooting off his gun. Sephiroth's plan was foiled, and Aeris was able to live her cheery life like before.
