Disclaimer: I do not own Harry Potter.

Every time Severus Snape visited Godric's Hollow, he did the same thing.

He always went near dawn, when the entire village was still asleep, wreathed in the gray morning mist.

And as he passed the war memorial, he would look up, blocking out two figures and gazing longingly at the third.

And then his senses would return, and he would brush impatiently past the church. The gate always creaked, but he would never hear it. He knew where the Potters' headstone was by heart, could've walked there with eyes shut. The name on the right was etched into his mind anyways.

And he would just stand there, just stand and stare for the longest time, brooding, wondering, hating, loving.

And when he finally stirred himself, he would always leave a lone white flower on the headstone. Always a lily.
