Me : Yo, yo, yo, YO ALL YOU PEOPLE~ Finally, after soooo long, I'm writing a one-shot. YAY~ ^_^ Why's it so hard for me to write one-shots instead of long, long stories that develop chapter by chapter? O.o Anyways, on with the story! Please enjoy~ :D n_n XD =D
I flashed the shopkeeper a subtle smile and took the cup that resembled a wine cup without the stem below it, loaded with vanilla flavoured ice cream, chocolate sauce and rainbow sprinkles. "Thank you." I said softly as I nodded my thanks, putting my change into my pocket.
Strolling leisurely out of the ice cream parlor, I savoured each small scoop of my richly-flavoured ice cream and found myself a place to sit and eat under the shade of an old oak tree in the park nearby Cross Academy. Rays of the fierce afternoon sun shone down on me and my ice cream through spaces in between leaves and branches of the tree. And because of this, my ice cream melted faster than it should.
I grinned a little with my eyes closed, recalling the first time the sugary-sweet taste of the very treat I held in my hands landed on my tongue.
Being my usual inquisitive self, I asked "Mom, what's that the other kids are eating?" at the moment my emerald eyes spotted an unfamiliar food. My mother chuckled fondly at my question and ruffled my hair.
Her gentle eyes, which I had obviously inherited, looked down upon me and she answered "That's a sweet and cold food, Takuma. It's called 'ice cream' and comes in many flavours and colours." I glanced at the nearly shapeless brown blob in a cup with questioning eyes once more, cocking my head to the side.
Then, I looked back up at my mother. "Mom, I can I try some?" And, in a twinkling of an eye, I found myself in the queue in an well-decorated ice cream parlor. My eyes sparkled with wonder as they scanned all the different colours of what my mother told me was 'ice cream. I pointed to a container filled to the brim with faint cyan ice cream.
"What flavour is that, Mom? Blueberry?" I felt a hand on my shoulder. "No, it's not blueberry, Ta-kun. It's bubblegum." I jumped up and down several times before catching the shopkeeper's attention. "What flavour would you like?" A friendly-looking salesman beamed. "Bubblegum, please!"
~ A little later ~
"Mom, how do I eat this?" I asked, all the while staring intently at the soft-frozen and bluish substance in a transparent plastic cup. I heard Mom giggle a little before saying "Eat it like how you'd eat pudding. You've had pudding before, right?" I nodded, without looking at her, and carefully scooped up a bit of ice cream and licked it right off of the spoon.
A burst of creamy icy sweetness exploded in my mouth at that very moment. Then, I ate another big scoop, then another, then another, until all of the blue blob was finished. Mom beamed at me, seeing that I had enjoyed one of the worlds's most magnificent treats. "Come, Ta-kun. Your home-school teacher will be arriving at home soon. We had better get going."
"Well, what do you know..." I muttered quietly, secretively to myself with a nearly invisible trace of a wide-toothed smile on my face. Then, I lowered the volume of my voice to a whisper. "Ice cream... Really does bring back memories."
Me : There you go, people~ ^_^ Thanks for reading! n_n
