Into the Light

CEDRIC DIGGORY

Little Hangleton

The last thing I remember before falling on the ground was a high, cold voice

"KILL THE SPARE" it said

There was flash of bright green, the feeling of being hit by a curse as it threw my body four graves away from where I was standing and when I landed it felt like being hit by dozen Bludgers. I can see my whole life flashing before my eyes and yet aware that Harry's being bound to a grave. I'm either dying or at least mostly dead. I can't move but I'm aware. This is maddening! Dragons! Merpeople! A Blasted Maze and a bewitched Cup and now I'm dying or mostly dead because of that stupid Cup was a blasted portkey that transported me to a grayeyard! What's next? Hang on! Has it been minutes? At least I know the Killing Curse doesn't kill you instantly, quite the exaggeration in fact because it's almost like a paralysis spell, it explains how I can't move or why I'm not breathing. I'm in respiratory arrest. I can still feel the adrenaline pumping uselessly in my slowly dying heart. I'll be in cardiac arrest in a bit I expect. My eyes are starting lose focus but I faintly see my murderer; the stout rat-like man carrying a bundle and dropping it into the cauldron.

Bone of the father, unknowingly given, you will renew your son. Flesh of the servant, willingly given, you will revive your master. Blood of the enemy, forcibly taken, you will resurrect your foe…

I saw no more but I can still hear as clearly as I was still standing. HE-WHO-MUST-NOT-BE-NAMED has come back. I pray Harry Potter comes out of this alive and takes my body back. I can hear You-Know-Who gloating and mocking Harry. I heard the Death Eaters' being summoned and were given an explanation of their lord's downfall and disappearance. An Imperius Curse, Two Cruciatus Curses, and who knows how many failed Killing Curses in one duel later. Well they were right about losing your sense of hearing last and that's worse because loss of hearing is after going into organ failure. When I finally kicked the bucket I felt my soul leave my body, at last I saw the light or that was I thought. I remember talking to Harry Potter, asking him to take my body back to my father and helping the shadows of Mr. and Mrs. Potter and You-Know-Who's other victims. Those were my last moments as I lay dying before I walked into the warm white light into oblivion.
