ONE SHOT

It's a bright and sunny day at the beach, the place I've chosen to be inspired, just a few more days before I go back home. Four days to be exact, and I'm planning to make it count. Now, I'm going out for a walk to look for an adventure. Pick up some lines, words, ideas, scenes, and then write about it. It's usually what I do.

I stepped outside of the hotel where I was staying and now witnessing the best part of sightseeing in the place. Pigeons are everywhere, a sign of love, possessing the romantic ambiance. Kids are feeding them and they look adorable. As I was walking, still amazed by the view, I dropped my notebook, and my pen rolled over to a kid's shoe. "Such a klutz." I mumbled. Being a writer, of course, I have my notebook and a spare pen with me always. It's the main reason why I'm here anyway. I'm really desperate to write a story that is worth the read. I don't want to write just another love story. I want it to be epic and unique. I avoid stereotypes in real life and in my writings.

"Here you go." A kid says, and smiled at me before handing me back my pen. "I think this belongs to you."

"Thank you." I said to him.

The little boy looks up to me and said, "You're so beautiful." I smiled at him. I just got a compliment from a kid. "I like you."

"You're a handsome young man, too." I complimented back and pinched his cheeks lightly. It turned red and now he's a lot cuter. "How old are you?"

"Eight." He answered cheerfully, before glancing at his mom. The kid's mother was giggling. "How about you?"

"I just turned twenty-nine."

"Twenty-one years won't be a problem, ma'am. Would you like to have a date with me?" I giggled, and lowered my face to him. Too cute. "Real date." He emphasized. Now I know he's serious.

I chuckle a bit, "Date?" and fixed my hair. "Are you sure about that?"

"Yes." The little boy nodded. "I'll come and visit you again tomorrow, if you want." Looks like somebody's got an admirer. "Is that okay with you?"

"Okay," I said, and kissed his cheeks. He looks so happy. "...then tomorrow it is." I added, putting a smile on his cute face.

"Anyway, what's your name?"

"Piper."

"Wow." The kid was really adorable. "I'll see you again tomorrow, Piper." My little boyfriend said and ran off. He was waving goodbye, so I waved back. "Bye!"

I pushed the door on my way out of the Starbucks. I look hot with my aviator Rayban sunglasses, white top, skinny jeans, and flat boots while walking and sipping my Iced Vanilla Latte. Yeah, it's my second favorite, next to Frappuccino. It was supposed to be just another ordinary day, until I saw someone strikingly beautiful who walked in front of me. She really caught my attention. My jaw dropped. Yes, she's that beautiful. I overused the word, but hey, she deserves it. Oh, and don't forget the hot librarian look, ugh!

My heart began pounding fast as she flashed her megawatt smile at me. On top of that, I feel like I'm a melting ice in a stupid alluring fire. When she turned away, that's when I got my senses back. What kind of power does she have?

We were both going to cross the street, and yes, I'm a bit shaking and I can't seem to look at her because I can't let her see me blushing. I don't want to be the obvious right now. Like that'll help. Light and heavy vehicles passing by, people chattering, and a lot more distractions and noises are there. But in that moment, it felt like we were the only people in that odd area. I am so love struck. When I finally gained strength to talk to her, and as the traffic lights signaled us to cross the busy street, I realized that I left my phone in Starbucks. "What the f-" I mumbled quietly, as I took a glimpse at her again. "Why now? Stupid, stupid, stupid." I clapped my hand in my forehead and look at the direction where I came from.

"Yes?" She asked me sweetly, and we had an eye to eye contact. "Is there something on my face?"

I shook my head and answered, "Nothing." Yep, I replied shyly, but dayuuuuum, she talked to me. Gosh! I can feel my face turning red now. "I was just-"

"What? Speak, human."

"N-nothing."

"Are you sure 'bout that?"

"Y-yes."

"Okay," I just love the way she tossed her long, jet black hair. "...if you say so."

"I- um," I stammered, as usual. "...I'll see you later, beautiful." The girl nodded and a smile was drawn to her face again. "B-bye."

"That is... if we ever meet again."

"No problem." Shit, too much ice. I've got to fulfill that now, would I? "I'll make that happen."

The girl faced me, "Really?" and crossed her arms. "Let's see how you'll pull this... trick of yours." She's really not that convinced about what I said, but we still continued the small talk.

"Yeah." I answered.

"Impress me."

I laughed confidently, "Watch me." and turned my back at her.

"I'll wait for that." I smiled at her once more, and then ran as fast I could to get back to the coffee shop. I was so thankful that it was still there. But the bad news is, when I got back to where that beautiful stranger stood just a while ago, she was already gone.

I let out a long disappointed sigh, and I was so hopeless in that moment. "Of course... she left. Why would she wait for a stranger like me anyway?" I'm not a scary-looking person, but shit just really happens sometimes. Damn, I never should've walked this way. Because now, it feels like I've opened Pandora's hot sexy box and I can't go back. Yeah, I heard that from the movie Definitely, Maybe. I don't really know what it meant, but it feels like it.

Not too long after that, my frown turned upside down when somebody honked a horn three times. I was a little startled.

Beep! Beep! Beep!

Gosh, what the hell is she doing to me? I'm not usually like this. "Hey, gorgeous," The girl says, "...you better start running." again with the stammering and blushing. "Catch me if you can."

"What?" I was undeniably taken aback, big time, when she declared that. "Can you repeat your statement please?" I guess I just need to hear it again. Come on, just say it again.

"I'll be waiting for you at the finish line." The girl started her engine and drove away fast. I didn't even get the chance to speak before she stepped on the gas and escaped. I was left breathless and challenged.

I lost track of her and people are everywhere. How am I supposed to find her now? Little miss hottie was driving a hot, red sports car. "Damn it." Of course, I cursed again. What am I supposed to say anyway? I'm pissed. I mean, super pissed. I know she's stuck here in this chaotic traffic, but how the hell can I chase her? I can't fly, and I don't have a freaking car! Yeah, reality sucks. That tease... oh!

I'm so desperate this time that I had to step on top of somebody else's car, just to see the entire area, for me to spot her. "Where the hell is she?" I asked myself anxiously. I wonder what will be the prize when I reach the finish line.

"Damn you!" I expected that. Oh, I mean, more than that. "Get off my car!"

"I'm sorry, mister," I told the man calmly. Man, he looks so angry. Bad fucking news. "...but please understand."

"I don't give a fuck about you and your monkey business!" Hey, no need to be harsh. I can pretty much understand the English language. "Get off!" I ignored the man for a while to find that freaking red car. "I don't care who you are, just get off my car!"

"I'm in love, mister, and I need your help, so I won't lose her." I explained to him that this is a do or die situation. "If your son or daughter were in my shoes, I'd help them, too." Good. The old man in his forties calmed down. I guess that little drama worked. "I promise, I would."

"Whatever, just hurry up."

I nodded, "Thank you." and gave him a warm smile.

"Just hurry up."

When I saw her car, and before the orange light was on, I jumped off the car and ran towards where she is. I thanked the man again before leaving. "Oh no, not again!" I exclaimed hopelessly. Now, the crowd gets in my way. What's next? A zombie apocalypse? Bring in the nasty walkers! "Please, let me through! It's an emergency." But of course, people don't give a shit about my love life and didn't give way. Worse part is that she beeps again. Tease! I jogged a little, and of course, she moved again. "What?! She is so unfair." Ugh! This girl is killing me.

I spotted a Ducati Monster 696 on the side of the road with the key left on it. "Thank you God for putting some sprinkles on my ice cream." You know what I mean. "But now, I have to snatch someone else's ice cream and I hope they can forgive me later."

I kicked start the engine, and as the owner of this cool big bike got out from the grocery, "Hey, that's mine!" He shouts angrily. What do you expect? His awesome ride is being stolen. "Give it back, bitch!" The man tried to chase after me, but we all know he can't do anything now.

"I will, but I really have to borrow this now!" I yelled back, before focusing on the road and on the shiny red freaking car. "I'm sorry! I'll give it back, I promise!"

Chasing, overtaking, and a lot of cool drifting had happened. Yes, it all happened for the sake of knowing a woman. I don't even know her name, and I don't even know what game she plays, but still, something kept me going. Something good... I hope.

This time, sirens are loudly ringing. "Great! Now, the cops are chasing me. Oh, well... that girl is worth my jail time." I grinned and speed up more. I can't believe I'm doing this. But what the hell, she's worth the chase. No pain, no gain. I know that this will be an awesome experience and I can't wait to see how this will turn out for me. Whether it'll be good not bad, at least, my day isn't boring.

Finally, the chase was over and now we are on the beach. The place was really nice. "Good, she had enough running away from love." I sighed and switched off the sexy ride. Good thing, I'm on my biker chick look, and shit looks perfect on me.

"You!" A man's voice made me tilt my head back. It's them - the cops. How can I ever forget about the fun part? "Stop right there!" They demanded, and now I have to think fast. "Halt or I'll shoot!"

"Oh, shit! Hadn't they had enough already?" Now, I have to run again because big belly cops are chasing after me. "Leave me alone! I just want to meet a girl!" I got off the bike and threw them the key. Oh shit, I just hit a cop on a face with a key. "I'm sorry!" Until then, I found myself running to the direction where she stood. I think I lost the cops, and I think that's good news. I can finally get to know her.

"Green eyes. And my God, she's so tall." Yes, that's all I've got to say. I didn't think she heard me. I can barely speak.

"You really did follow me?" The girl asked and I just smiled. Oh, don't act like you didn't know. "Now, I'm impressed." She clapped slowly, and still smiling down at me. "What's your name?" I can't talk, and I was so tired. I have asthma, for crying out loud. I even dropped my notebook and pen on the way. My other poems and plots are written there, but I didn't mind. "You're so sweet." She says. I rested my hands on my knees, while we're having a staring contest. Not to mention her friends are looking at me like I'm an idiot. They probably think I'm crazy or something.

Even before I can say something, "She's a little out of your league." a cop whispered and handcuffed me. A whole new amazing experience, you say? "That's what you get from love, not a kiss." They all laughed, and I bowed my head while they took me away, dragging my feet. I even managed to smile at her. I still don't have any regrets though. I had a lot of fun today.

After a long while...

"Hey, lover girl! The one with the blue eyes. Yes, you!" A cop called out. Yeah, they never stopped teasing me for what I did. "...you have a visitor."

"I don't know anyone from here, you must have mistaken." I replied and leaned my head on the wall. I'm so sleepy that I don't even feel hungry. "Will you please quit teasing me and let me sleep?!" I shouted abruptly before closing my eyes. "Just cut it out!"

I swallowed air when I recognized who's approaching me. It's her, and now I have the biggest smile. What is she doing here? "Hi!" She says flatly. Is this really happening? Can somebody slap me please? My God! "How are you?"

And I was like, "Hey!" Yeah, dumb move. Seriously, all I can say is that three letter word. Lame. "I'm fine. I-"

"Can I ask why the hell did you do that? And why did they arrest you?"

"They took me in for stealing a Ducati Monster 696 and for being so cute." I chuckled after saying that. "Oh, and for chasing a beautiful lady that I saw this morning."

Her eyebrows furrowed lightly, "Seriously?" and took one step closer to me. "Why?"

"I did it for love," I answered. "...and as promised, remember?"

The girl bowed her head, and looked away. "You don't even know me. I can be an international drug dealer or something." Wait, does she really mean that? Geez. "Well?" It's amazing how this woman makes me smile in every different ways. It's rare. "You're one stupid, hopeless romantic." I frowned a little, but then she lifted my chin up and kissed me passionately. "My kind of hopeless romantic."

"It was love at first sight, and I got forever to know you better." I tucked her hair behind her ears and traced my hand on her smooth face. "But it would be nice if you tell me your name."

"Vause. Alex Pearl Vause."

"Your name fits you. It's beautiful."

"How about you?"

"Alex..."

"Yes?"

"I have memory problems."

"You forgot your name?" Alex laughed hysterically. I love her name so much that I want to say it over and over again. "You're impossible."

"Yeah, I forgot, but you can call me yours instead." I swear, I saw her blushed and that's great. Yeah, talking about pick-up lines. I'm good at that.

"You're funny." Alex commented. "I like people who has wicked sense of humor."

"Piper Elizabeth Chapman, but you can just call me Piper." I offered her my hand, and she reached for it. "I'm traveling around the world for inspiration."

"Wow, that's nice."

"I guess, it's not just inspiration that I had found... but love."

"Nice name you got there." Alex says, and giggles a little. "You have an amazing voice, too."

"I'm sorry, what?"

"Nothing." Alex waved her hand cutely. "I just know someone like you who sound like a squirrel." That's when she laughed hard, and so I scratched my head. I don't have any idea why she's giggling. "Nevermind."

I caressed her face and said the words, "I want you." Actually, this was the first time that I saw her get really tensed. "How's that for a squirrel?" There was a companionable silence between us after I said that.

A moment later, "Can we just skip to the part where you'll ask me on a date?" Alex asked and I gulped. "Please?"

"Oh."

"Now."

"Um, I, um..."

"Cut the crap and ask me already!"

I turned my back on her, "Shit!" and walked back and forth. "How could I ever forget that?" She looks really troubled.

"What is it this time?"

"I just remembered that somebody was waiting for me at the hotel."

"You're taken?" Alex really didn't like that part. She has a way of making simple things seem so pretty amazing, like her frown and smile. "You've got to be kidding me." Now look who's mad. "Why did you chased me anyway?!"

"Except that he's this tall, and that he's a kid." I told her, and we both laughed. "I was just kidding, Alex." I was going to say something again until I got cut off by soft kissable lips.

My girl started nagging, "Can you just..." and kissed me again.

"Oh, yeah... right." I had a deep breath, and held her hands. "Can you please stop being so cute? You're distracting me." I finally gained strength, and I realized the trouble I got into just to have this moment.

"Alright, alright."

"Alex." I trailed off, looking at her nervously.

"Yes, Piper? I just love the way you say my name."

"After all that have happened today, when you smiled at me when I finally reached you, everything came rushing to the surface and I felt so happy, beyond happy. It was really worth my time."

"I'm listening."

I placed my index finger on her lips. "Be quiet." Alex just nodded, and tossed her hair again. That's my favorite part. "You may be a little out of my league, but-"

"Oh, come on." This woman is so impatient. "Just say it already!" Gosh, so impatient. "Or else I'll tell my friend to keep you here." The officer winked at me. Hmm, this girl has connections.

"But I would really... really like to date you." I kissed her forehead, and her eyes were burned to mine. "I've loved you... the moment I saw you."

"Really?"

"Yes."

Alex kissed me on the lips and held my hand. "Let's get you out of here and let's head to the process where you'll court me." That statement made me smile like a freak, and my heart really skipped a beat. "I loved and enjoyed the chase, baby. You're right; it's all worth it." Alex pulled me close to her and hugged me tight. "You just made me believe in love at first sight."

"You did the same thing to me."

"Promise me, Piper, that when we get out of here, you'll take me with you."

"No problem, baby."

"I want to see the world with you. Oh and Bali would be nice."

"I already saw the world... when I saw you, Alex."

"Hmm, come here..."

A lot have happened today - eyes being glued to a woman that I barely even know, being love struck, the stammering in the talk, the racing heart beat after watching the clock tick for every wasted second, the mind-blowing chase, being arrested and all that, all I ever wanted was to meet her, and now look where it has gotten me. At least, my effort has been paid off. You are one hell of a lucky girl, Piper! I will never regret anything that I did today, and I will never one day blame cupid for hitting me with an arrow straight to the heart. Not now, not ever.

I know this may sound like a little cliché, but at the end of the day, I got an unforgettable experience and found the one who'll inspire me, not just on my writings but for every little thing. I'm so lucky to have her, and I will treasure that experience and this girl forever. I found my inspiration.
