Chapter 1- Sparrow

"Hurry up, Sparrow!" my older sister, Cleesia, called. "I'm hurrying!" I called back. "You better be! I don't want to be late to school again!" She called up the stairs. I had overslept again. I need an alarm clock... But anyway, I go to Luka Elementary School in 5th grade. I didn't want to get yelled at by my sister once more so I hurried up. 2 minutes later, I was downstairs in the Living Room getting my coat on and running out the door and to the bus stop. I just got there when the bus pulled up to the curb and let us on. I said hello and sat next to my Bus Friend, Harriette Stevenberg. Bus Friends are kids that only talk and hang out with you on the bus but not at school. I sit next to Harriette because none of my real friends, Carlen and Mabel, went on her bus. The good thing was that my half- friend- half- crush, Robert Harlem went on her bus. The bus picked up a few kids before Robert came on. He sat on the opposit side of us and said hi. He moved some of his curly brown hair out of the way of his green eyes. "Hey, Robert." Harriette said to him. He waved back. I couldn't staring at him. Then our eyes met. He smiled at me and I looked away and blushed. A few minutes later, we were at school. The bell rang once we got there. I think Mabel is lucky that she gets to walk to school. But Carlen has to ride in her mom's car. Mrs. Harrison gets kind of nervous when Carlen goes in a vehicle with "strangers". Well anyway, I went to Ms. Derpson's class and sat down in my desk. I saw Mabel listening to "Cinderalla Romance" By Hatsune Miku on her MP3. "Mabel," Ms. Derpson called from her desk. "Put that away, please." So she did. Mabel doesn't get in trouble much. But when she's told to do something, she does it. Right away we had Science. It was the test. Then Art. Then Math, Lunch, Comm. Arts, Recess Comm. Arts, and go home. My friends and I met at our usual spot to talk, The Flagpole. Carlen gave us each 1 stick of gum. As we chewed, Mabel said, "I guess no picking on us today from Hanna.". "Yeah." Carlen agreed. Then she gave Mabel and me another stick of gum. "T." Carlen started. "G." Mabel said. "I." I said "F!" we all yelled. "I think you spoke too soon, Mabel. 'Cause here comes Hanna." Carlen said. "Hey, kids." said Hanna. "You look stupid again, today. As usual." she finished. "Oh, we look pretty," I started. "You just dress up and put on so much make-up that you look like a clown. But everyone just worships you because... um..." I couldn't find a good insult. "Because they're just afraid that you'll pick on them." Mabel finished for me. She's good with bullies. Carlen just sat silent because she isn't very good in these situations. "Well, that's good. So now I have more peasents." Hanna said. Carlen loooked down at her shoes. "Stupid girl. Now we have to go, My ride's waiting." Hanna said, pointing at a black limo. After the mean girls left, Carlen started crying. "Oh is she getting to you?" I asked her. She nodded. "Well, don't worry about her. She's just stuck up." Mabel said to her. Carlen smiled and gave them a hug. "Well, gotta go. My mom's waiting." Carlen replied. "Yeah. And if I don't start walking, Mom's gonna freak." Mabel said. That's when I remembered... "MY BUS!" I yelled. But all the busses were gone. "My mom can bring you home." Carlen said. "Okay." I said. When I got home, dinner was ready. I had 2 servings of the lasagna. Then I got my nightgown on and watched A Bug's Life in mmy room. A few minutes after I turned off the TV, I fell asleep.
