Characters: Dean and Sam Winchester
Dean and Sam were in the bathroom getting ready to head out for another day on the job. This is where Dean noticed something different about his younger brother.
Sam was globbing on the gel and cologne like nobodies business. He stared into the mirror at himself with startling focus.
Dean raised an eyebrow and stopped brushing his teeth.
"Dude, since when do you put gel in your hair?"
Sam was taken aback and looked at his brother innocently.
"Since now."
Dean snorted and wrinkled his nose,
"Tone down the cologne, freshmen. You're making my eyes sting."
He looked back into the mirror and looked into his hazel eyes. Dean had intended to let this go, but Sam rarely changed his grooming habits. It had to be a chick.
"Sammy?"
"Yeah?"
"You doin' this for a girl, right?"
"No."
"Uh huh. Yeah, you must think I'm some village idiot," Dean replied, his tone even and certain.
Sam continued to work in the gel. His brother knew him better than anybody. He was stupid to think Dean wouldn't notice his hair. He also knew Dean knew it was for a girl. That was inevitable. Dean was the master of womanizing.
He remembered Ruby's words exactly. She had just closed in on one of Lilith's henchdemons and made a comment about the hide it was sporting as he lay lifeless on the motel floor.
"It's a shame. He had such great hair."
The poor human had worn gel, just like Sam was no doubt wearing now.
Sam smirked to himself, he had gotten every hair in place.
Dean glanced at him.
"Greaser."
"Soc," Sam said in return at The Outsiders joke.
"Ready?"
"Yup."
Dean walked out with his '67 Chevy Impala keys in hand. Sam waited until he was out of the room. He looked into the mirror on last time, checking his appearance for Ruby.
