I dunno, I read this one really good fanfiction where Aang broke up with Katara. It was really well written but it wasn't finished yet and they hadn't gotten back together in the story. Call me a nerd but I was just so sad and heart-broken. So I had to write this quick one-shot. Enjoy! And never forget how powerful love can be...

Katara looked over the horizon. Out towards the sea from the beach in the Southern Water Tribe. She held onto her Gran Gran as tight as her arms would let her. Out in the distance they could see a ship harboring into their village. It was still a good distance away, but they could tell it carried members of their village who were on their way home. Their return meant the completed construction of Republic City. A major part of the Harmony Restoration Movement which was to unite all four nations as one peaceful Republic. With the City being a staple of that movement.
Katara and Sokka had taken part in several meetings as well. But after a while they had to cut short their commitment because they needed to care for their Gran Gran. But FireLord Zuko and the other nation leaders had been more than understanding.
But what made this moment so significant for Katara was that because she had to leave to care for family members, she and Aang had been apart for over a month. They had said farewell to each other when Aang knew that he would be needed to oversee production. Being the Avatar, he played an important role, as the City was essentially a declaration of a Renaissance to this world. No longer would benders be seperated but they would now live in peace, harmony and friendship.
Peace, harmony and friendship is kind of Aang's thing.
Then she saw it. From the edges of the far away ship she could see an object taking off into the air. It was him! It felt like it had been too long. She noticed he was flying to the left side of the land and she wanted so desperately to follow him.
"Go on..." whispered Gran Gran encouragingly. "Go to him! He wants to see you."
Katara grinned and sighed with happiness as she took of running towards the tops of the icy cliffs. Not taking her eyes off the soaring glider. She climbed and stumbled up the snowy hill as fast as she could. When she got to the top, there...his cloaks blowing in the wind...and his staff held firmly to his side...was Aang. Grinning madly at the sight of his Forever Girl. The sunset gleamed beautifully behind him as he posed heroically, waiting for her...
Katara couldn't hold back her tears and she ran to him. Sobbing with happiness as she threw herself into Aang's arms, her face buried into his chest Aang shut his eyes as he felt her embrace. Not wanting to let go of her for all eternity. And before he knew it he was crying too...
"I...missed you so "hic" so much." Katara chocked.
They broke apart momentarily and Aang stared deep into her eyes and she into his. After a while Aang spoke;
"I never really left you, you'll always be in my heart." he assured her. He hugged her again and she returned it. Half laughing, half crying.
"and you'll always be in mine." she whispered. "Always and forever."
Not the best ending, I know. But I did my best. Please Review! Your feedback means the world to me.
