"God not like that!"
"I'm doing it exactly has you did!"
"Clearly you're not. Here move." Derek chuckles softly from his until then secret position leaning against the doorframe. She gasps and her eyes go wide the second she spun her head to investigate the interruption.
"Oh my god you made it!"
"Of course I made it Baby Girl! Now I feel that nickname is no longer appropriate." He walks into the room where the two of them stood both equipped with a look of complete happiness and peace; the same look he didn't develop himself until the day he saw Hank for the first time. Luke gives a friendly nod and takes a step out of the way. Derek can't help himself as a jovial laugh escapes.
"You can tell she's your daughter!' Instead of a plain white blanket the baby was wrapped in a bright pink one and the little rectangle plastic bassinet was full with stuffed animals. 'May I?" He knows the answer but still feels obligated to ask.
"Of course." Garcia tells him softly. Derek reaches down and gently touches the soft black hairs on the tiny little person.
"Hey there beautiful. I'm your uncle Derek. If you ever need anything I'll be here for you. But if we're being honest your mommy and daddy are super awesome and will be there for anything you could ever need."
"Actually Derek there's something we wanted to ask you." Luke says after he changed positions in the room to be standing with his arm gently around Garcia's waist.
"What?"
"We wanted to know if you'd be her Godfather?" She makes the request.
"What?! Oh my god of course!" He never thought just a little request would make him that emotional or happy.
"Good because you were getting the job like it or not. I mean someone needs to teach her to play basketball after all."
"Um I can play basketball." Luke informs her with a chuckle.
"Yeah but Derek was a star player! You can teach her soccer."
"Well that could be interpreted as slightly racist." Derek mutters holding in a smile.
"What?! Oh my god Luke was it?!" Garcia's eyes immediately fill with tears. Even without the added hormones of having given birth less than twenty four hours ago she was super sensitive.
"I didn't take it that way."
"Baby Girl I was just messing around."
"I thought you weren't gonna call me that anymore." She gives a playful wink.
"What can I say? Habits are hard to break. Plus a man have more than one baby girl. Oh by the way what is her name?" The new parents exchange looks and smiles.
"Her name is Harper…" Luke begins the announcement.
"Morgan." And Garcia finishes it.
"Really?" This already replaced the emotional reaction he got minutes earlier when asked to be Harper's Godfather.
"Yes really. You mean the world to me more then you'll ever understand. How could we not?" He's about to say more but a knock on the door seizes that opportunity.
"Ms. Garcia it's time to practice feeding again."
"I'll catch you guys later.' Close or not he knew this wasn't a moment for him to share. He leans down and kisses the baby on top of her head before kissing her mama on the cheek. 'She really is beautiful. Just like you." He whispers. He gives Luke a strong nod as he passes what he assumes is the lactation nurse, he knew his smile and feelings erupting in him were nearly equal to that day he saw his little boy. Life was perfect.
