The Second Self.

In the end - Change is painful

The flowers were just beginning to give forth their dainty, pink blossoms in the night air. The parks had grown green with the spring's rains, and the sky had become a beautiful midnight. The moon was swollen, powerful casting its light to the shadowed earth. A tall figure leaned over a cold- iron rail, letting the freezing metal burn into his bare stomach. He was looking over the city, a string of fading lights, letting the wind play, and toss wisps of his moon-grey hair. Light was pooling behind him from an open door, and a man- shaped shadow could by spotted moving around; before the shadow- man could stop the other; he climbed to the top of the railing, perched there and jumped. The shadow-man sensing a change, ran to the railing, and watched his friend fall. His eyes grew wide, his mouth became parted with his white teeth showing, a scream became a bird stuck in his throat, flapping for all it's worth. The jumper fell for a few feet, before wings opened themselves to catch the air and save their master from death. With a powerful swipe he rose to his friend laughing and extended his hand. Toya climbed up the railing and extended his hand to Yuki. After coming so close to loss, the two would remain together, forever.

Toya had never been much to show emotion. He had loved Yuki, since setting eyes on the boy. It was an instant love, the type when the two people are sharing a room, the energy increases tenfold. It was a powerful emotion almost blinding the heart. Toya, however, kept in bottled inside him, as did Yuki for the most part at least. The two grew close, as Fate had tied them together. The soon grew closer, when Fate threw in her Aces and put Yuki's existence on the line. From that moment Toya knew he loved Yuki, and that he would do anything to be by his side.

Chapter one:

"I can't sleep." Yuki's voice was soft almost non existent. Toya grumbled, sleepily. Moving slowly cramped by sleep, he slid his legs over the bed, stood to snap on the lights. The flare of the bulbs hurt his eyes and he blinked back dazed spots. Yuki was huddled in the far edge of the bed, blankets wrapped, like snakes, constricting his movements. His head was cast forward his eyes engraved the opposing wall. He had been crying. Toya crept closer, and reached for his friend. Yuki leaned towards the awaiting arms, and let them encircle him with their strength. Toya rested against the bed's headboard and cradled the other boy. He rested his head, and listened to the steady rise and sink of Toya's chest, which within beat a heart the lulled him to sleep.

The sleep and comfort was sort lived for Yuki soon woke screaming, and in a hot sweat. His back was on fire and the muscles quavered uncontrollably. Yuki was tossed out of Toya's grasp by the violent convulsions. Moonlight poured in from the curtains, and threw ugly shadows on the shaking man. He looked like a monster with opened eyes with small pupils, mouth gaping and body shaking, his tapered hands gripped sheets with wild movements. His hair grew longer in the moonlight. Becoming like a mirror it reflected the color of the moon. His body began to shift and change it grew longer, more molded. It became more of a man's body. Long and firm, the awkwardness of youth was forgotten and muscles grew and tightened, legs and arms grew longer. In short his body was changing into its adult form at an alarming rate. Toya stood back, unknowing and frightened. He watched his boyfriend change into an adult before his very eyes into the very form of Yue. Yuki looked at his lover with opened eyes and shaking hands; Toya did the only thing he could and held his Yuki close.
