Together Forever, Now We Can Be
"Hello, gorgeous," he whispers.
It's the sweet voice of Death.
He beckons me and I long for him.
I've missed him.
"Hello, my dear."
He offers me his hand.
I gladly accept it.
I can never say no to him.
"It's been too long."
"Far too long," I muse.
"We can be together now, my love."
I turn from him at that.
Death and I had flirted before.
But never like this.
He meant business.
And how could I deny him?
"You avoided me last time, my heart."
I pause at that, thinking back to that night.
A suicide attempt.
Nearly fatal, but not close enough.
I remember him whispering in my ear.
"A little deeper now, not much more."
I'd hesitated, and then stopped.
As tempting as it was, I couldn't do it.
Not then.
Not there.
He'd vanished and I hadn't seen him since.
Until now.
"I've missed you," he tells me.
And I have missed him.
I desperately wish to join him tonight.
"I'll ask you once more to cut deeper," he says.
I have to listen. I want this so bad.
Then deeper it goes.
I feel no pain.
He's closer to me, speaking quietly now.
"That's a good girl. Now finish the job."
And deeper I cut, and then he's there, carrying me away.
Together forever, now we can be.
