I don't know why I did it, I just snapped. I guess I'd been doing that a lot lately ever since, well you know... my dad... but that doesn't make it right. Sure Sam was being a pain in the ass, but he's my baby brother. I'm the one that's suppose to protect him, not be the one he needs protected from. How did everything get screwed up so quickly?

"So uh. how's your face?"

"It's fine" Sam answered never taking his eyes off the window

"Really? Because you look like you're getting a bruise. We should take a look at that when we get back."

That finally got Sam's attention

"Dean, I know you love being all protective of me, taking care of me and all. But you really have no right to do it when you're the one who punched me in the face." He said with some anger in his voice

"Yeah. You're right." Dean said with a laugh " Hey man I'm sorry ok, I was just so pissed"

"It's ok. It didn't hurt anyway"

"Yeah right!"

"It didn't."

"You almost cried, I saw your eyes well up"

"No way man! Now if I would have punched you, then we would have seen some tears"

"AWW that's cute, little Sammy thinks he's tougher than me."

"Little Sammy? Dude last time I checked I was like twice your size. So little Dean would be more like it don't you think?"

"You may be bigger but I'm still older and I can kick your ass anytime baby brother"

"Yeah, Whatever"

After a long pause

"You were so on the verge of tears" Dean said suddenly

"Dude come on, let it go" Sam said with a laugh

And just like that everything was fine and I was grateful for that because although I'd never admit it to him, I need Sam more than anything. He is all I have left, I can't lose him. And I promise that I will look after him. It's my job to protect the kid and I swear that's what I'm going to do. No matter what.
