A|N: Wow! It has been ages since I last published a story here, so here I am less then a week away from finishing my freshmen year of college and with a new story! I got into Merlin because of my best friend and fell in love! So, this short story will be me sticking my feet into the waters of the Merlin fanfic fandom. I figure I will say this now before I get too far into anything. I ship both Merthur and Mergana. Colin Morgan has wonderful chemistry with everyone and everything! So, expect my future fics to have one or the other, and maybe both. However, for this you will just have a basic overview of things. Also, fair warning now, so no one corrects me in reviews, after watching enough Merlin (is that even possible?) I figure he has a slight accent as well as a little different way to say things. After all he is a servant, which means he isn't super smart, but I figure his mother taught him to read/write, however he isn't as educated as someone like Arthur so he says things differently, but still correct none the less.

Disclaimer: I own nothing here, expect my plot, and that be it.

Title: Cold

Word Count: 314 (I apologize, I had wished it to be longer)

Pairings: Lancelot/Merlin friendship

Summary: The chill of winter brings friends together

Final Notes: One-shot, unless I feel the need to continue in more detail with another chapter, also this takes place around the beginning of season 3? I dunno, I may change it, I like the idea of making AU stuff, so let's say season 3, AU so Morgana is around and so is Lancelot and Gwaine, because I like them.

"You must be freezing, and if not I must be missing out on sort of magic that keeps you warm, well other than fire and there's no fire around."

Slowly Merlin turned his eyes from the ground as he sniffled lightly as the snow continued to fall heavily around him as well as on him. He gave a faint smile to Lancelot before he looked back to where Arthur was hunting and gave a small nod as if to tell Lancelot what he was doing without actually having to say it and it was with that Lancelot sighed softly.

"And he expects you to be warm, in this?" The knight pulls lightly on the thin, blue tunic that Merlin wears.

"My jacket needed washing so yeh," Merlin finally speaks, and when he does the knight begins to frown a bit more than he was.

The voice sounded hoarse, as if he had been coughing and as he watched a bit closer he took note that his thin friend was shaking, more so than most and without saying anything he removed the jacket he wore and placed it over the warlock's thin shoulders. He smiled a bit now, feeling better that Merlin had his jacket instead of freezing and possibly getting sick, if he wasn't at that point already.

"Lancelot why did—" He was cut off.

"You needed it, and don't argue with me friend." He smiles a little before he nudges his smaller friend, but as he does Merlin nearly falls into the snow and quickly Lancelot grabs him by the arm and holds it lightly as he shakes his head. "You're going break someday if you don't slow down Merlin." He says as he places a hand on his shoulder and looks at him with concern in his eyes.

The warlock looks at his friend and nods as he whispers: "I know."
